Cant fill with fuel

Had this problem on my old 2011 and now on my 2015 S550. I would have thought this problem was fixed. I can only get a quart at a time into the fuel tank. I can hear a hissing sound while trying to fill it. I sure hope its a issue the extended warrntee will cover as it cost me $900.00 to get my 2011 fixed.

Have you tried differgas stations and pumps? German cars are known to be very picky when it comes to fuel pumps...at least in Southern California where we have a fume recapture system built into the pumps. Not sure about other places.

Just a thought...

Sorry no help but that's strange because I assumed that issue was related to old Jaguars only .Vacuum or canister was causing that issue if I recall correctly

I had this same exact problem about 6 months ago on my 2015 S550 and it actually took about 3 visits to the dealer to get it finally and correctly repaired. I was so convinced by the dealer that it was NOT the fault of MB that I actually spoke with a gas station manager and told him he had something wrong with his pump! My first visit to the dealer resulted in the infamous "Could Not Duplicate Condition" and a printout from Mercedes on how to fill your Mercedes vehicle with fuel. I have owned every model S-Class since 1986 so I thought I was more than qualified to dispense gas. Obviously, the problem continued and I returned to the dealer where they replaced the gas cap, basically as a "goodwill" gesture to shut me up. The problem continued and I told them that I should not be having this ongoing problem and they needed to replace whatever was involved in the fuel delivery system until they corrected the problem. The car was at the dealer for 3 days and they:
  • Replaced the fuel charcoal canister
  • Replaced the fuel shut off valve
  • Updated the engine control module to current (revised) software

The problem has not recurred. I did go back and apologize to the gas station manager.

I went to dealer without a apointment and explained the problem. He ran it right in the shop, gave me a 2018 M class to run around town with and in 2 hrs he called that it was fixed. Some canister was plugged and they replaced it. No charge!!
