200 dollar wiper blades

Warren Buffett is not financially stupid enough to buy a W222 in the first place. Buying one and complaining about the price of a wiper blade is like buying some hot young dumb 20 year old blond and then complaining she costs a lot in upkeep.

Well I for one admire and am grateful to those who are successful enough and have the desire to in your words be "financially stupid enough to buy a W222 in the first place" so that people like myself will have the opportunity to own one of these fine machines in a more affordable fashion after they have moved on to their next "financially stupid" or not choice.

My feeling is with the amount of money that goes in owing a S class, $200 for wipers isn't that much.

When I look at all the MUCH more expensive new cars out there, I always end up going full circle and coming to the conclusion that the new S450/S560 models are relative BARGAINS! All these clowns out there driving these $200K, $300K, $400K+++ cars that are, in so many ways, not HALF the car that the current W222 is. As for Warren Buffet, the man LIVES to make money. I like to make money as wellI, but I also love magnificent, BRAND NEW cars and the enjoyment I get from driving what I feel is the worlds best car, is worth every penny I spend on it..........including $200.00 wiper blades.

Now I'm confused after reading this thread, so, what is the exact difference between the regular W222 wiper blades and these "optional" wiper blades? And is this "Magic System" more than just the complete blade assembly? TYIA
btw you need (2) of them at $130.97 ea. (Left and right) $261.94 Set of Wiper Blades. And these were the Standard Wiper Blades not an Optional System, which does Not show for my MY 2015 S550e.

Supply/demand people. The COST to build molds, setup manufacturing, and run parts is fixed and gets dispersed over volume. Toyota Camry blades...$20 bucks. Super magical Merc blades....$200 bucks. I'd bet anything Toyota's margin is higher at $20.

One has to remember that higher parts/service/maintenance costs are also not unique to Mercedes. If I recall, Cadillac has more or less the same maintenance costs as Mercedes as does Volvo, Audi, etc. Even Fiat/Chrysler is not far behind... The level of electronics and use of modules somewhat levels the playing field.

This. It's also a Mercedes-only part. So no slew of 3rd party offerings. The discussion is a bit laughable though given the low cost of the part. I can understand it when it comes to high cost parts.

I don’t want to toss money away but let’s get real.
Wait till the OP has to replace the airmatic suspension components at $9000 like one of my clients did. One will only wish that it was ONLY the $200 wiper blades that need to be replaced.

If it is magic vision control then yes it is the going price. Not uncommon. However, if they are just normal wiper blades and you paid that then you are a fool lol.

My main thought here is, if you can't afford one of of these cars NEW, you have no business owning one. I didn't say only buy a new one, I said afford one new Now, that being said, I enjoy a good deal and prefer to buy used low miles as I'm in the business, etc. I can afford new and understand what these cars cost to maintain. I've grown up with these cars since I was a baby

It seems silly and wasteful to replace the entire wiper assembly when only the blade usually needs replacement. I checked the Bosch site for the 2015 S550 and they list an ICON p/n 240E blade which is available on Amazon for $18.98 each.
Bosch as a video that shows how to install them at: https://www.boschautoparts.com/en/icon-install-videos /n240E

No you are right. Warren Buffet does bother with a $100,000 car....
Instead he owns a $11,000,000 Mansion in California and a private Gulf Stream Jet.... I am sure that cost a hell of a lot more then all the W222's on this forum lol.

The OP has his values and we shouldn’t give him a hard time. It’s an expensive car and replacement parts are expensive.
As for what is worth what to whom, we are all different. I’m sure someone will be very happy buying my departed 2015 S550 as a CPO for $50 something thousand, but I had the best part of that car, I paid for it and now I’m doing it all over again. To me, having a brand new car of the latest model, equipped just the way you want it, is worth something. And, with the ever changing technology, the changes from year to year—especially when MB offers a mid cycle “face lifted” model—can be pretty amazing. The car is expensive and leasing it for three years and then giving it back is something one needs to be good with, as I am. If you think of a new W222 as part entertainment, as I do, it begins to look like a relative bargain. When compared to things like first class air travel, a first class cabin on a luxury cruise ship, a vacation stay in an ocean front room at a luxury hotel or even a dinner out at a fine restaurant—all of which are things that you never own or that retain any value—the idea of leasing a new S Class starts to make sense. It’s a very fine LUXURY experience, that lasts for the term of the lease.

I saw this post on the active topic feed and it got my attention. Read into it and realized the 2018 E400 coupe I bought has this style of wiper blade. Now I need to research that a bit more. I never gave the wiper system much thought before, just that it was “cool”.
I can see MB going to this system on most mid to upper end models just for the revenue it promises for replacement blades.
