Yeah just bought my S450 and somewhat disturbed that it came PZero run flats. (Seems like a BMW thing)
I thought a car of this cost and magnitude would have a traditional spare in the trunk.

BTW my gf has the PZero RF on her X5 and they suck.

Run flats on all non-AMG S-Class models since mid-2013. Mercedes has done a better job on the RF tires than BMW but they are clearly inferior to conventional tires in ride comfort/noise. Lots of threads here on this forum...

While the lack of a spare in the S-Class is part of the W222 line-up, Mercedes has been removing spares on certain models since 2002. So nothing new really.

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
I had Michelin AS3's in my 2012 W221 and I now have a 2015 W222 with Michelin MXM runflats and I cannot tell much of a difference in the noise or handling. I was not real excited about RFT tires but after giving it some thought, I cannot remember in the last 30 years of driving, changing a tire on the side of the road. I have on occasion ran over a nail but that just produced a slow leak. Only problem I see with the RFT tires is that they are not widely available so if I do have a problem I could be in a rental car for a few days. That may change my mind and I will go the more traditional route. I think an inflatable spare will fit in the well under the trunk floor if you relocate the battery. I was going to look into that but figure I will give the RFT tech a chance first.

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
As I did when I got my 2015 S550, I had the dealer swap out the factory supplied RFT on my new S560 with Bridgestone Serenity Plus conventional tires. I ordered 18” wheels on both cars and with the new tires, the improvement in ride comfort and noise is dramatic. I can honestly say that my 2018 is the best riding car I have ever owned. I carry a W221 spare in the trunk.
