Doug is somewhat annoying. For that money I would probably go for the S63 but I am a bit biased. BMW's always looked too boy racer for me but I do like this one.

For about the same money, I have a new S560 AND a CPO 2013 SL550. Way more class and way more fun than the BMW.

I just got a new 2018 S63 but wanted the new M760i or B7 instead. But... after looking at these other 3 cars for months, I thought that the exterior and interior looks of the MB were nicer, the seats were definitely better in the S63, and the dash was much much nicer in the S63, and I'm a HUGE BMW fan and really wanted to go with the BMW (owned 8 of them before my 3 S63's). I read the BMW car club magazine cover to cover every month (Roundel) and don't look at any MB magazines and could care less. But still, the S63 is so appealing to me in comparison, I just had to spend $14k more than the m760i and get the MB. The m760i I looked at was being sold for $20k off vs. $10500 off the MB 63.

I would have LOVED to have a car with a cool key like that m760i key (the m550i will do the same stuff) but the MB more appealing to me in every way (except for the key and the trunk size). Oh, and I'm not a fan at all of my fake leather (what a dumb idea) steering wheel either, but it came on the car so I'm stuck with it until I swap it out one day or have a leather shop put a really nice leather over the fake suede.

It simply feels dumb in my hands compared to a leather steering wheel which feels GREAT in my hands. Whoever came up with this was ... not thinking clearly. And I'm sure it won't wear well and will wear out quickly.

Reading your posts I start to wonder why you ended up with that S63.
It is a fine car to be sure but it appears that many options are just not to your liking. The ultra suede steering wheel, the black wheels, probably the night edition and/or some other options or colors.
i understand your gripe with the CD player but in the end I would consider this an annoying cost just like the PPF.

The car would have cost less and a $10k discount would have been easily accomplished on a custom build. What is most important is that you are happy with your car!

Annoyed with the lack of availability of a S560 allocation/discount after our S550, we were looking around and were considering a B7, we ended up with something more nimble and smaller for a change of pace.
I am enjoying the E63s even though it was pricier than either the S560 or the B7 for that matter.

Some S-class features are missed but I am not diminishing my enjoyment by griping about every detail.

It’s just a car. Enjoy! There are clearly worst things than owning a S63

Anyone know if this has been "fixed" yet by MB? One would think that a S450 vs S560 supply/demand imbalance could be fixed if MB wanted to in some months, based on supply chain lags. I would guess a couple to at most 6 months.

Yes, in the end, I should have just ordered the car new! You're right. It's simply the learning curve of life. I do LOVE THIS CAR! It's not perfect but nothing is. I'll live with any deficiencies it has and adore it for the full 10 years I'll have it. VERY GRATEFUL to own this baby.

Allocations don't appear to be an issue but in stock supply is still low. On the financial side, the lower residual and higher MF makes the car more expensive that the 2015-17's were.

Thanks for the info. If I order I think it won't be for another few months. I buy outright, so lease terms aren't an issue, and hopefully 560 ordering discounts will be attractive at that point.

Low allocation / low discount seems to be the MBUSA new sales scheme to increase profits.

Dave sure likes to gush about little things. Wow - the roof of a particular building is RED!!!! He seems to have studied the eminently preferable Brian Cooley for his delivery.

Not clear that they are doing that at this point with the S560 vs S450. I tried an autotrader national search and got 828 S560s and 1089 S450s. Doesn't seem to reflect a huge shortage of the 560 vs 450 at this point. One would think that underlying demand for the 560 might be lower than for the 450, due to the price point.

The problem is not the number of cars but the ones with desirable options one maybe looking for. I am not entirely sure about the 450 / 560 but I am definitely sure that's their strategy for the AMGs. I'm in the market for a S63 and there is not a single one with options I want. Furthermore allocations on a S63 are hard to come by thus limiting discounts.

You have to sit and walk by the car to get it to run , it's a gimmicky namely for US a country with large streets in which you can navigate big ships
Well, display key is superb ,you can also "wirelessly" charge it .I think we could see it in next gen S Class

My i8 has the cool key, it is only cool for about 10 minutes. Then it becomes a big thing that has no real key (you need to keep that in your wallet), does not fit in your pocket and if a valet breaks (because they will think its cool), it is a pain and not cheap to replace. Mine sits in a draw/
