Favorite fragrance? Stock or your own?

Hi All,
my CPO came with nightlife mood. I like the smell through the car, probably enough that i'd buy it again.
I did pick up a sampler set - and frankly, on a piece of paper i think it smells terrible.
So, i'm loathe to spend $130 or so for each fragrance to try it - at least nightlife mood (to me) smells MUCH better atomized in the car, than from the little sample vial sprayer.
I'd be interested to know anyone's thoughts, and if they have a favorite scent, or fill a bottle with some sort of essential oils. I read eucalyptus is a no-no - the oil would clog the system. then again, not sure i want my car to smell like Vicks vapor rub.
I saw there's a Maybach agar wood scent - not sure how to sample that, or if anyone can opine on it.
so, thanks for any input!
(i'll try posting my first poll!)

I opened up the vial in my car, cleaned it out and filled it with some Tommy Bahama cologne that I had laying around. Smells awesome and is not overwhelming. You can use any cologne or fragrance as far as I know. I would not waste my money on the 130 MB vials.

I do the same thing except I use Curve cologne. Been using Curve for 20 years.

I like the Freeside mood about the best. I tried it using tommy bahama cologne but it seemed like it went through it in about 5 days and was empty, strange, the car must have drank it

Thanks. Speed - can that be the difference between cologne and essential oils? How long did the after-filled vials last? Purportedly the mb $130 vials last about a year, so $10/month isn’t horrible...not sure how alcohol based cologne would do in the summer wth evaporation...

On max setting, my initial bottle of MB fragrance only lasted 6 months. My cologne , about 3 months. My cologne was $30 or so.

It looks to me like the Mercedes stuff is thicker so that might be mainly what it is. I think I'll probably just stick with the Freeside off amazon for 90 bucks, it seems like it's good for around 10 months or so. It is a nice feature this fragrance device. I did put some other cheap cologne in the jar I had hanging around and will try that out tomorrow and see who that works on my drive to Tennis in Ft. Myers.

I found that it takes a while for the new scent to work it’s way through the system.

I just received a New Sealed bottle on eBay for $75.99 Shipped, $5 to $7 per month isn't too bad for the real thing!

The original(I'm assuming) bottle in the car is almost gone, 2 years later, but the car just sat idle for many months with only 7,1xx mi on the OD.

Yes, so I've decided to never use any of the free fragrance that came with my 2018 S63 unless... I'm on a date with a new woman and I want to show it off to her. I can't see, as a single person, the benefit of using fragrance in my car. The new car smell is pretty yummy, though. For 40 years of owning cars, I've actually been able to get by without using any fragrance bottles in my cars and it's just worked out OK without them.

This is so crazy, isn't it? That we're discussing fragrance bottles in our cars. 10 years ago guys would have laughed at us if a topic like this came up about the future of our Mercedes cars.

We had the augarwood or however it is spelled that came with our Maybach. It was nice but I didnt feel like spending 120 something for smelly stuff. Like someone said I found you can open the vial and ended up putting nice smelling oil that I brought at Pier One. Works just as good.

I've been using Kelvin Klein for quite a while now and I really like the aroma. A fairly large container of the cologne will provide many refills of the vial in the car. It cost me about $78 but that's a hell of a lot cheaper than the MB fragrance considering the many refills I can have with the Kelvin Klein bottle.

Well ladies and gentlemen, I pulled the trigger today and ordered the 2018 S450. I had two dealerships trying trying to give me their best offer. The best I could do was about $94K from the local dealership. The MSRP with the options I wanted was $107,275. I'm going to try and sell my 2014 S550 car privately for about $50K. The MSRP on the S550 was $108,500. It has about 49,000 miles on it. What do you guys think?

The cologne on the vial lasts about 4-5 months on level 2. By the way, I had the wrong spelling. It's Calvin Klein. I have not tried it on level 3 and level 1 is much too weak. You can hardly smell it.

I think that is too high. with that mileage on a '14. I'd say list at $47,700 and hope to get at least $45,000. BOB(another bean counter)

Bob, I’d like your opinion, and that if anyone else willing to chime in - what would you predict/estimate the value should be for a 2016 S550 (presently CPO) loaded to the gills, on August, 2022? I’m being serious. Figure 65k or 70k or so miles, MB extended warranty through October 2022,and excellent overall condition.
imwas hoping for $40k or so, it I have no way to base or predict. Original MSRP $125k.
i probably overpaid, but got what I wanted. Car will have been depreciated by then, and then some.
thanks for any input or speculation.

It will be a 6 year old car with 65-70K miles on it. I just traded in my 2012 S550 with 52K miles for around 27K, probably could have got 30K FSBO but didn't want the hassle and it saved me 3K in WSST. If a W223 comes out then you will see a big hit. I would guess it will be worth around 30K by then. At that point nobody cares about options or MSRP, it is a car in its twilight years that is entering the point of monster repair bills. These cars ride the depreciation train all the way down year by year with the biggest hit coming in the first 3 years. After that it is a pretty steady decline assuming 10-12K miles a year in mileage. I gave 59K for my MY2015 with 17K miles and an MSRP of 119K new, 60K hit in three years. I will probably drive it 3 years and then most likely be done with Mercedes and ready to try a different brand. Lifestyle will be different and wont need a big sedan. I would not spend too much time thinking about what a money pit these cars are and just go enjoy it.
