Pirellis Road Noise!

Hi everyone,

I just got my S560 with 20" rims. I'm experiencing lots of road noise with this brand (front: 245/40R20, rear: 275/35R20 ). I want to change them to the more comfortable and less noisy tires. However, the original tires are run flat, and I don't have spare. My tire shop advised me to get the Runflat Goodyear excellence which is not perfect but better than Pirellies or go with the non-run flat Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 and find another solution for the spare tire. Anyone has a better idea or professional advise. Please help me choose the right tire.
Thanks,

I am running the Michelin RFT's on my 2015. I cannot tell any difference between these and the Michelin AS3 non runflats I had on my last S550. Always been happy with Michelins.

Some folks are more irritated by tire noise than others. To me, run flat tires SCREAM when I am driving at freeway speeds. In addition, ride quality is one of my number one concerns. So, I ordered my S560 with 18” wheels and had the dealer install Bridgestone Serenity Plus non-Run flat tires. The ride is “THE” best and “THE” most quiet I have ever experienced in any car. I carry a compact spare from a W221 in my trunk. For me, it’s the only way I can own a new S Class. Good luck to you and please follow up and tell us what you finally do.

i replaced my 20" pirelli runflats - not for noise, but because they were summer tires, and i'm in the northeast.
i bought the conti DWS which seemed to have the highest reviews at tire rack.
i would personally accept road noise (but not love it) in favor of having run flats - there's very few run flats for these wheels at 20", and NO all season run flats or i would likely have bought them.
that said, i have a ton of tire repair, inflation, slime, etc. in my trunk as i'm nervous - with a run flat (okay, extended mobility) i'm pretty confident i'll get to my destination.
the non run flats and no spare take away some of that reassurance.
i know streamliner keeps a spare and jack in his trunk - i thought seriously about it, but don't want to lose the trunk space.
