So much for factory rim integrity

Took my 2015 S550 4matic with AMG sport package and 19" AMG 5 spokes in today for a slow air leak in one of the front tires. Turns out the wheel had a hairline crack in it. I have not hit anything and don't drive the car super hard. Had the wheel tig welded and trued as it had 3 other dings. Will see how it holds up but my next set may be a repro set as they are a fraction of the cost. For those throwing 20-21" rims on your 4700 lb cars, get ready for some carnage the first time you hit a pothole the wrong way.

Cast vs forged, latter can handle much more abuse

One of the most important things is tire pressure. On my 20's I stay at 41, knock on wood no issues and i'm in PA.

Well, as it turns out, I have the wheel and tire protection package through MB so hopefully I will be getting a new wheel soon.

Had a leak on my front driver side. Didnt see any tire damage and couldn't find a nail or screw. Turns out one of the 20 in Amg wheels was cracked. The roads were horrible but i didnt remember any damage. Needless to say ilI was shocked. Had the wheel and tire warranty so they replaced it.

I had lots of wheel problems on my 2012 E63 amg with 19 inch wheels, thats one reason on my new AMG I ordered forged wheels. On my 2015 S550 I have just the 18 inch rims so no worries there.
