Navigation Update - is it worth it?

My 2015 Nav was never update by the previous owner and it's going to cost me to have it updated. Just want to know if the update is really worth it? are there big improvements with the latest update? thanks.

Depends on if there are new roads in the area and such.

I feel it is. Just drove from SoCal to Michigan, to Pa and back. I was surprised how much road construction, new ramps and new car pool lanes had occurred. The 2017 Nav version I had was out of date more times than I liked. I had the 2018 update installed in August after the trip. The dealer says all 2015's get 3 free updates (2016, 2017, 2018.) The first 2 are now OBE but the dealer should be willing to install the 2018 for free, mine was.

If it was never updated I would think that it would be worth it but it really depends on how much you use the Navi system and whether you mind not having the most updated maps, etc.

I just ordered the 2019 maps for mine. Current maps are from 2013.. I'm thinking it's a good upgrade for me.

I paid to have my 2015 updated because the previous seller never updated. There were some improvements to the interface as well as new data. It's expensive.

Check the purchase date of your 2015, just in case... Nav updates were complimentary for 3 years: https://mb.navigation.com/cms/page.M...en_US/MBNA/USD. Unfortunately my 2015 was too old and the previous owner never took advantage of the free updates.

Thanks for all the responses. I got my 2015 with plenty of time to get the update but the dealers told me the 3 years free-update is only for the original owner. That sucks! I always felt the current Nav version I have was not responsive enough. that's why I need to know if it's really worth paying the money to have it updated, in term of responsiveness and presentation on the screen. Google Maps on my cell phone is always available ....

Your dealer lied to you! I am the second owner and I had the 2018 update done for free through my dealer. And, btw, it was a great improvement! Not the street parts, but the overall look-feel, etc. I’d look into it.

Is this free update for all MB models or just the S-Class? I also have a 2016 GLC, would like to get the maps updated in this vehicle also.
