2014 S63 Command Screen Dead

Has anyone else experienced this? I have a 2014 S63 with 40K miles on it. Last few days when its been a bit cooler outside I start the car and the center command screen is completely dead. It remains dead the entire drive, no reverse camera, radio, or heater controls. Heat still works but you cannot see the settings. When the car sits in a heated garage over night it works. I cant imagine the S class cant handle -3 Celsius overnight....

Suggest you do a hard reset. If I recall you hold the eject button on the CD player for about 10 seconds with the car ignition on and that does the reset. If this does nothing then take a min and verify what I told you to be correct as far as how you put the eject button. I had my head unit lock up ONE time and this solved the problem.

Thanks Katie I'll try that. Its just weird that its dependent on external temperature... and made me realize how useless the S class is when the screen dies

You kind of have to look at the car as a big computer. If you are familiar with Windows you can say you have seen the computer do wierd stuff and one of the best ways to address that is to do the ctl alt delete..........

So now you know to try the reset. I am not 100% certain that my directions were correct. I am sure it involves holding the eject button for a period of time but it might be with a different combination of ignition on or not. Regardless its not hard and the hard reset wont hurt anything but you will have to reprogram some of your saved contacts ect ect....

On our 18 AMG GTC the head unit stopped playing sound. Everything was working on the screen and it was showing the sound playing on the screen but NO audio. On that car there is no eject button but after a bit of time we found the reset in one of the screen menus. IT totally brought the unit back on line with no further problems whatsoever...........

MY17 S63AMG - MBUSA Buyback. MY16 SL63 - Sold MY19 W213 E63s. 2020 W213 E63s Wagon
Taking a wild guess here, but maybe some connectors from the Nav screen getting loose due to temperatures ? Are you still under warranty? I would give MBusa customer service a call/email and let them know the situation and see what they can do to rectify it even if you where out of warranty. You can ask for a goodwill assistance as it’s a S63.
