Cracked my AMG wheel

I now have a W222, but when I had my W221 with 20” AMG wheels I ended up going through 5 cracked wheels. I ended up getting aftermarket to help curb some of the replacement cost, but then sold the car shortly thereafter. The same thing happened to my SL with 19” AMG, but so far I’m only on my 4th wheel. I haven’t confirmed for myself, but a friend told me a class action suit was filed on the premise that MB intentionally knew the wheels were more fragile than others. Again I haven’t confirmed but I hope that’s not the case.

This is definitely a problem for S class owners. My 2015 AMG front wheel cracked and I never hit anything or drove over an unusual pot hole. Just normal driving. The combination of fragile wheels and the ridiculous rear tire wear caused by the 1.5 degree negative camber make the 20 inch AMG wheel unsafe in my opinion. I ended up getting some Mercedes 18" wheels commonly sold in Europe. Love the new ride, it makes a noticeable difference.

Ive cracked (and replaced) 3 AMG 20" rims in 2 years. Replaced with OEM wheels. I paid 1900 for a Mercedes offered wheel /tire coverage - they picked up the 5100 tab for the wheels and 2 tires..
