Steering Wheel Replacement?

I'm hoping somone might be able to answer this very specific question. If I upgrade my non-facelift W222 steering wheel to a facelifted W222 steering wheel, will the heated wheel function still work pending my car has it today and the replacement does as well?

Nothing will work. The new steering wheel electronics are not compatible with a pre-facelift car. Nevermind the heating. Distronic functions have also moved from the column to the steering wheel.

You may find some Russian able to re-wire it.Those guys have been doing it for years for G-wagons...

We can upgrade a w222 to a 2020 or 2021 wheel it’s all the same
2020 upgrade is superior anyway if anything I would go with that one every time

an oem wheel will not work if you just buy one. It needs an adaptor otherwise it won’t work

IIRC from earlier posts, the cruise is still operated from the column stalk and not from the wheel. Rather cool mod for those who can eat the cost of a new wheel, airbag and adapter ...

Realistically 1650 isnt too bad for a complete wheel. people here spending more than that on wheels they can never see while driving.

I was researching this for the last few weeks. I think I'm going to get one from CKM.

look up ckmcardesign dot com

You can customize the steering wheel just about anyway you like. Looks pretty good. It's not OEM, but seems to be ok. Pretty easy install. Look at the video below. Skip to about 10:00 min. You don't have to put the wheel together like in the video, I'm told it comes all assembled ready to plug and play. But I haven't done this yet. I will soon. They have a lot of choices.

Did you get the steeting wheel from them? Does the heating and vibration still work in the new wheel?

I did get the steering wheel from them. I'm very happy with it although the wheel has heating option, it wasn't wired quite right. I played with it for a while but couldn't get it working. They said it was wired wrong and they could send me a new adapter, but I was too lazy to deal with it. The heating is just on the leather part, my wheel is leather and CF. So I just went without the heating part. The vibration thing is installed and it works. The distronic and cruise control do not work on the steering wheel, you still have to use the column mounted stalk. Everything else works fine. It's a great addition. It's soooooo much better than my stock wheel. It's pretty easy to install, but you do have to tinker with it. I highly recommend it. You can design it anyway you want it, there are tons of options.

Glad you enjoyed it! I might need to do a lil more research on this. Worried about the airbag. There's no way you can get a genuine MB airbag for 300 bucks

I got the airbag from them. It says it's original OEM and it looked like it is original OEM. I think it is original otherwise they would be in big trouble. The guy is pretty responsive. And there's a lot of genuine MB stuff on his site. I think the steering wheel is a reproduction from China. They are shipped separately....
