I can't speak to the GM's 'truthfulness', though I don't know why he'd so flatly lie or misrepresent or spout BS. We had a 10 min talk while I was in for service A a few weeks back and asked about the new model. He volunteered that he had seen the interior. He described it as a "waterfall" style of implementation and admitted that S Class owners are the group least likely to want such changes and that they (us) would take considerable convincing. I simply added (in this thread) that maybe the curvy console style of the C Class in the video was a hint at the upcoming style. No need for all the conspiracy theories or suggesting the guy's a lying loon, etc. So, to all the 'c'mon mans', 'bs', 'I've bought 10 so I'd be invited', etc. - whatever helps you sleep at night. I was just trying to add a bit of real world info I was told by a reputable (to me) source - I didn't add any actual BS Photoshop crap or speculate further or insist on taking this as fact.
Not saying hes a loon. Just wondering how a General Manager has access to the most closely guarded corporate secret.

Found these on a Chinese website - claiming it to be real images of the design. Obvs this is not an actual physical car -but they are claiming this is it. Trust a Chinese website? Who knows - but for all we know - they stole this intellectual property too.

That would be a fail. Those tail lights look so down market.
While I know Stream would love the solid metal roof, I actually don't mind the CLS-esque rear end treatment. That front end however is..not nice. The headlights don't look right and the grill reminds me of a guppy.
In those renderings it looks quite pedestrian and not stately as the S has been known for. Those taillights look similar to those found on a Passat and the front looks like one of those Asian cars that are made to look like a Mercedes. I sure as hell hope this is not accurate. Suddenly the BMW 7 is becoming more attractive.

If you were blindfolded you would not know the difference between the Bentley and the A8. Have driven them both. From a noise perspective both of these cars are quieter than the W222, and confirmed by C&D's instrumented tests. Quieter than the Maybach, even and as per like every review out there, both are more comfortable than the W222.

I found the continental not so comfortable. I really wanted one but it it can barely fit my 5"6 daughter behind my 5"10 son, forget about when I'm in the car. I saw the flying spur at goodwood and was amazed at how much more 'sporty' it is, with the low profile wheels.
Beyond the fresh aesthetic, the 2020 S-Class will only be available as a four-door sedan, while the existing S-Class Coupe two-door and S-Class Cabriolet convertible will get the axe with the generational changeover. Merc hopes the move will simplify its lineup offerings, and besides, a car this big definitely needs more than just two doors.
Speaking of size, the 2020 S-Class is expected to plump a bit dimensionally speaking, adding extra girth compared to the current model in terms of width, length, and hoodline length. The height will also see a slight decrease to give it that extra sporty demeanor. And don’t forget model variants like the long wheelbase Maybach and Pullman models, both of which will add even more size to the thing.
Why do they have to make the luxury barge more sporty - and decrease the height? I don't get it. Don't people buy this for the sheer magnitude and obscene luxury and spaciousness?

BMW 7er grill looks downright awesome compared to this.

In my humble opinion:: you have to get into Bentley territory to have obscene luxury and spaciousness.
To be honest, besides my comments regarding some renderings, I personally trust MB would not make any major blunder with the styling of their flagship, never happened before (no matter how we criticized and disliked previous "spy pics").
One thing though, I am truly in fear it will have the new Tesla like screen that controls all the features and that is a deal breaker for me.
If I liked it I would own a Tesla long time ago ( and it makes sense in that car) which otherwise is a fine car on it's own.

I tend to think that's the big fear over all. Exterior styling - one can, say, warm up to... lol (over time...) but agree totally on the interior - if they're duplicating a tesla in there and we get 1 strip of wool across with 4 oddly placed vents - and a big screen....That'll be so disappointing.
