^^Could be ^^ The seat belt warning labels have always driven me I've removed them with a little help from alcohol (not that kind) All previosuly owned vehicles with similar stickers have met the same fate as Tilda's below. A little residual color is left on the alcantara but IMHO still much better than these stickers staring me down (6'3") all the time. Wife will color-match so it appears like the last pic below (photoshop). T

Wife & I left Tucson, AZ this am for the the BIG road trip. Stopped at the Petrified Forest National Park and what a visual treat that was. https://www.nps.gov/pefo/index.htm The S550 ran superb at altitude and very pleased with this purchase so far Telluride, CO tomorrow T

Yep^^..they were all over the place in The Petrified Forest National Park, in NE AZ. Then drove up to Telluride to visit an old friend who purchased our PO'd 94 GTS that still looks great. Stopped in Durango, CO for a day...great town, and finally made it to the Grand Canyon (just before susnet) and it was spectacular. Spent a day in Prescott, AZ...another great town. So, we put approx. 1,500 miles on TIlda and she performed flawlessly even at altitudes of 2,500'-8,750' (Telluride) and much of the trip still got 22mpg...respectable considering that nobody passed us the whole trip T
Telluride^^
Gondola ride to top of Mtn
Our PO'd Porsche 928 GTS^^

Watson Lake, Prescott, AZ^^

Hey T, nice Porsche 928 ya got there! I've been looking at an S550 myself ... https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/d/...022804483.html. Not as pretty as yours but I like the blue, seems like nearly all of these are in white, black or silver ... nice alternative and goes well with the 'silk beige' interior, don't you think?

First day of the trip averaging 65-70mph and altitude's of 2,500-3,000'....27mpg. The remaining 5 days were at higher speeds(?), altitude's of 3,000-8,500'. Nobody passed us the entire trip and yes I have a heavy foot 19mpg. YMMV. T

Maintenance time. Found an Indy that lets me bring my own parts, fluids, etc., and charges a fair labor rate. Trans fluid/filter changed, 8.5 qts M-1 engine oil & filter, air & cabin filters, 50/50 MB coolant/distilled water flush, Porterfield R4-S brake pads/sensors, and brake flush. Fluid disposal, labor, parts and tax: $1,198. T

Local MB dealership mailed a $150 off coupon for service over $ 350. Figured I'd give them a chance so called to be sure that this coupon applied to a trans flush/filter flush and that they remove all 9 quarts....they said yes. Going down the invoice noticed I was billed for 6 qts of trans oil....not 9. They did not perform a full flush as stated^^...only a drain/filter swap. Neither of our MB's will be going there again unless it's for a recall. I starting shopping around for a good Indy and bingo ! found one nearby. One of my questions was: Alright to bring my own parts, fluids etc ? They said yes and would charge there normal labor rate. Tested them out with my wife's E350 for routine maintenance 5-6 months back and they did a great job. After satisfactory service and being treated well by the service mgr, I left a tip. Brought the diesel-up in last month, (my engine oil&filter) they changed the engine oil&filter, greased the suspesion fittings and disposed of the 9 qts of oil& filter all for $ 16.23 w/tax! tip $10 and well worth it. Gathered parts, fluids, filters, etc., needed for the upcoming service planned for Tilda. Included in the total price above is a $50 tip for the service advisor and techs who do the work...again well worth it and don't want to think what all of this would have cost at the dealer. After flushing the brake fluid and installing new front pads/sensor, tech says: "these rear pads are not the proper fitment" then said...no worries, come in next week and we will swap them in for you...N/C. Porterfield corrected there mistake and new rear pads already shipped. Rotors looked great, pads had approx 20% left but was time to let these dust pads go. YMMV. T

That's a typical story from the dealer. I simply will never understand their rational when it comes to giving it to people STRAIGHT! What about the warranty on parts you buy yourself?

In this instance, I asked our local MB stealership twice if they were flushing all 9 qts of trans oil and they lied to me twice. I'm done with them and this is what inspired me to find a good Indy in the area...so far so good. Everything purchased^^ fluids, filters, brake pads, are either MB products, endorsed by MB, or quality aftermarket parts, fluids, etc. I opted to replace the worn MB brake pads with Porterfield's to greatly reduce dust....MB does not provide this type of pad..at least that I know of. Just built a car wash station off of the front of the display garage in the back driveway...anyone want to see it ? T

Hi Tom, Did you snag that "S"...yet Designed in a car wash station just in front of the display garage. Hung some sail panels up high to shade driveway while washing/drying. Added a 2nd (retractable) water hose ree w/gun..nice to have water on both sides of the vehiclel. Built a little car wash shed to store it all. I enjoy handwashing our vehicles and this new set up makes it a joy. Picked up some cool posters and hung them up a few days ago. T

Where do you keep Peachy? Still thinking about the blue 2014, part of me wants to spend a little more for a newer, lower-miles car, but don't see too many equipped like that one. Another consideration, oddly enough, is how well an S will fit in my garage! Haven't seen the exact dimensions but the C350 already takes up the available room pretty well, and the 928 GTS has long doors and needs a little space around it on both sides too. I'm lucky because my architect made the garage wider than today's builder standard, but one can't have too much room in there.
