Can’t get radar to lineup with the windshield cutout

Hey guys I have a 19 s560 and I see there’s two cut outs on the windshield for gps etc because the windshield is metallic but with my radar mount I can’t get the radar to see directly thru the cut out
i haven’t tried the cutout at the bottom of my windshield yet but that’s pretty low as I like mounting my radar high. Any tips for this? I got a uniden r7

or does anyone know how many dB the metallic windshield will reduce for signal

I have an Escort mounted to "see" though the lower cut out area on my '16 S550 C4 and that works excellent for me. I have not tried to use the upper cut out - I thought that area was primarily for toll road auto pay transponders.

I have a Uniden R3 mounted high and right of the RVM. Had to play with it a bit but finally got a good view out of the cutout. Purchased a permanent mount to tuck it in a bit tighter but haven’t installed. I couldn’t get it to fit in the low center cutout....

Will you have this hardwired in? I am awaiting a 2020 S560 and will want to move my VI from my GL to the new car.
I have mine hardwired in the GL.

If the fuse box of the 20’s haven’t changed since my 17, I used an add a fuse to tap into the driver side fuse box below the A pillar. From there I was able to snake the cable up the A pillar, under the headliner and around the mirror housing to the right side. The GL was a PITA as I had to tap into the fuse box under the drivers side rear seat.

Thanks for the tip, do you happen to remember the fuse block number for a switched hot?
