Nice Ride

On a 2014, I connected my trickle charger, but the trunk outlet was off. I had to unlock the car to get it to turn on. I know other people use this outlet to keep the battery charged during storage, but it looks like it is not active all the time. Is there a setting to keep it active so I can use the battery maintainer?
