Is a clear-coat in the headlights safe/good after sanding/polishing
Hey, I have some little rock chips on the headlights of my W222 and I need to fix them, so a local shop was going to details them for me. Headlights look good during the day in general but it's easy to see the chips at night when lights are on or right after a car wash in the sun. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with coating "clear coat" the headlights after sanding/buffing/polishing? A local shop that details high-end cars recommended that is this will prevent or delay any oxidization over time but I though I'd ask her if you agree/disagree. He owner showed me the same thing on his Lamborghini and another 1992 M3 fpr a costumer, i thought it was okay, but am get too worried when decidicing on something that I have not done before. Any similar experience? I read that OEM headlights also have a clear coat!!!.. is that true?
I did some research online and it seems that adding the clear coat after sanding/polishing headlights if anything would protect the lights longer against yellowing due to oxidizing. Any advise or anyone with similar real-life experience?

I had clear vinyl film put on my headlights when I had the same PPF vinyl wrap on the front of my 16 S550C4. So far it looks invisible to the naked eye and the headlights look like new.

I was actually referring to the one that get's sprayed on the headlights. Are these safe too? I know that worst case is that if they turn yellow I could just simply re-do them but I wanted to ask. I also heard that factory headlights already comes with such a sprayed protective coat/layer.
