Lost my dream S560

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

At minimum I believe you received enough information for the best possible outcome. Enjoy!
Furthermore, I believe the ruby black was simply not to be. One drove by me on the first day I had the new car and as beautiful as it was, it just didn’t give me the same feeling anymore. The inkiness and gloss of this all black is something to behold, and the all black interior is just like my outgoing S550, only more luxurious with the upgraded materials, design and the black headliner (I used to have gray headliner). All black leather is my favorite anyway.
I’ve attached some interior pics just for fun.
Functionally, the car seems superior to the 2013 in almost every way. The only gripes thus far:
-I miss the smooth door opening of the W221 very much. I hate how these doors open on stops/positions like any other car out there. Granted, it’s a thicker and more substantial feeling than most cars, but I just love how the old doors would stop wherever they landed. But I knew this going in, and I’d made my peace with it long ago.
-The climate control is rather confusing. The W221 had a max cool and and off button. I still have to fiddle around with this a bit more, but so far I don’t see anything like that here. In the volatile NY fall weather we often need maximum coolness and heat in the same day.. sometimes in the same afternoon! It boggles my mind that there is are climate control presets on these cars. Seems like such a good idea to me!
-I have not yet found a favorites button. My old car had a button to which you could assign any given function. In my case it was maximum massage for both front seats so at the click of a button both my wife and I could enjoy a massage. (And a side note regarding massage specifically: it takes a good 10 seconds to get both massages on the two front seats.. might not sound like a lot but it’s still annoying)
-Menu operation is much more involved than the W221, naturally, but a lot less fluid in operation. I could be wrong, but I’m fairly certain that literally every computer driven feature was controllable by the console wheel in the old model. In other words, if it was on the screen the wheel controlled it. But now it appears that different buttons control different on screen choices. Again, I may be wrong. Perhaps it’s all controllable, just not as logically. Further investigation required.
If anyone has any insight or corrections on these items please chime in. Other than those things everything is a dream come true. What a car!! I resisted upgrading for such a long time — I am one of the biggest W221 fans in the world, I would bet! — but I can confidently say that this is a worthy successor. And visually (body wise) they seem to have worked out the kinks and rough spots by this late period in the W222 generation. For example, the triple eyebrow and upgraded grille absolutely MAKE the front end. Etc.
