W222 COMAND Version, Update Ability
I've got a 2015 S550 (U.S.) and I'd like to know how to verify the COMAND software version that I have, and what is the latest available from MB. I believe that this system must be updated by the dealer directly. Is that true?
Thanks,
Tom
I am curious about this topic too. I have the same MY as you and I believe that the 2016 and 2017 MYs has road sign speed limit recognizer, and algorithm changes in Distronic plus and ABC.
I am curious to see if there is a way to get the dealer to update the car.
I believe I read another post awhile back about a guy convincing his SA that command was 'freezing' and got his system fully updated. Perhaps I could go to a foreign car shop and ask them to 'break' command and then convince the dealer to update it...
FOUND IT: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w221/596365-DEALER-CAN-PERFORM-COMMAND-FIRMWARE-UPDATE.HTML albeit w221
Anyone in the know?

They will update your command SW if you complain about some function not working right (check TSB thread) They won't improve it tho, just update.
With Tesla and other technologies getting updates and improvements free it makes the old car companies look very old world.
