are you saying you paid 40% MSRP (like around 45K USD) for a 2015 W222 with 6000 miles only on it? Unless it is the base model with no accessories or options then I think that seems really low and below market value. Seems like you beat that guy really hard with that deal. 6000 miles on 2015 W222 with interior/exterior options is certainly in the 50s (50-58K USD minimum) As a fair deal. 6000 miles is like nothing.
MSRP was probably low. Base cars can go cheap as majority of people do not want them. You would be surpised the number of w222 i have been with AMG pack but no drivers assistance package. It is hard to get it all when looking used. I paid 45% of msrp of 123k+ with 23k last year.

Also after 70k, these cars don't really hold any value. So 70k, 90k, 130k, you won't save a ton in lost value. Especially now as it ages.

Some people are like that, get those lowball quotes from the dealer and then list it for the same or slightly higher price private party. Got a car like that once, picked it up the 2nd day it was listed, called him the day it was listed. It was the nada rough trade in price.

+45% on a 123K MSRP is like $56K USD --> for 23K miles that's very reasonable. But 40% MSRP is 48K, and for 6,000 miles only, man, that sounds like a deal I neven saw.... I mena 6000 miles W222 (assuming it has some packages) will sell same day at 48K USD online. However, who knows what kind MSRP he is referring to. If he is referring to 85K MSRK, 40% is like 34K which is still good if it has 6000 miles. Perhaps it had an accident or something on Carfax, i still think 35K for a W222 with 6000 miles only is a super good deal.... tell me if am wrong, i'd like to know if am wrong regarding my current understanding of the W222 market as a function of miles....

That is basically what happened. He had two letters from dealers offering to buy the car, one from a MB dealer. It may sound crazy of me, but I even offered him more after talking to a Lexus dealer as I was negotiating for my wife a new ES300h, but he said the letters showed what the car was worth.
I do recognize I got a great deal. Otherwise I would still be driving the LS.
I believe car is nicely equipped. MSRP was 116k.

Ok, okay, in this case it seems like you got it from what the MB deader offered him (like a trade in value, or even lower than trade in value cause those dealers are never reasonable). Good for you, 46K for W222 with 6K miles only is probably the best dead I ever saw for anything below 10K miles, assuming it free of accidents and has 116k MSRP.

That makes more sense if that's the case, 45% off is like 55% of original MSRP .

Those of you who have both the S550 and a Lexus LS460 which one isolates you from bumps, potholes and expansion joints better?

am sorry to say, but to me the Lexus LS is a little bit smoother on bumps when compared with W222, but there is a good reason for that, which is because I drive my W222 in the sport-mode for suspension (cause it looks better and lower this way). If I change it to comfort then I would say it gets as good as the LS, but I just don't like how it looks (higher) on the comfort mode. It's just more sporty on the sport suspension mode and looks way better but a little solid on bumps.

Aren't tires, the quality, RF's vs NRF's, and rim size one of the biggest deciding factors here? Along with air vs non-air suspension? In terms of chassis, isn't the W222 far superior?

I have an R-20 rims on my W222 versus R-16 or 17 on my lexus, so that’s one of the main factors. Large rims with low profile are not as comfortable as smaller ones plus that I guess the W222 is heavier.... when all these combined with sport mode suspension, the W222 loses unless again you drive it on comfort mode then maybe results are closers.......so after all it’s not an apple to apple comparison.
W222 is better overall but the Lexus LS is all about comfort

Yeah.. Well its for this reason that I have considered switching out the AMG package 14 spoke R20 wheels for some of these S600 R19 wheels: https://www.carid.com/perfection-whe...54&url=7029023 It retains the elegance for a touch more comfort. Even more so with the factory 18's.

---

Also on the topic of options; I am extremely thankful I came across my 15' S550 at CarMax which was almost fully optioned out: Night Vision, HUD, Split-view, ABC (the elusive MBC), executive rear seat package... with only 24K miles. For only $56K. 5 Year 'Bumper-to-Bumper' warranty included... The car is only missing: Magic Sky Control, Designo Leather, Executive Plus, Rear Entertainment, and Burmiester 3D,

When I searching for my S550, I was not going to have anything less than almost everything. The good thing about Carmax is they seemingly don't even calculate the options into their pricing. (56K for my fully loaded S550, and 50K for a base model same mileage!) They can't even get em right on their listings lol!!

IMHO: It's a crime not to fully option out these cars!!! I shed a tear for every S550 I see with a BLANK veneer panel instead of what could have been options...:

Not to quibble on your math, but 45% off IS 55% of MSRP, 65% would add up to 110%.

2014 s63 AMG.
I just had the recall done and my S63, rides rough now, I feel every bump I’m due for new tires , I went thru. Continental s that were new last Dec and fronts are almost worn about 6k miles on them , backs are not as bad. MYLs430 on 18 inch OEM rides so much nicer than MB , Lexus has Michelin PS4 , I’m going to try them next on MB , but my Lexus can’t take a curve @t speed too well , I think they are totally different when it comes to handling, I’d say the S63 handles almost as well as my 2003 911 turbo. ,sounds crazy but that’s what I think. I hit some back roads we’re I live and the MB can take a hairpin going crazy fast and I take the 911 going same speed so it’s a fair test, the MB can handle really good.

Fully loaded ones are just tough to find. It either you find one that has almost everything but is missing small like HUD - vise versa. Night vision and Spiltview, from my experience, is very rare. Some even have all the goodies in the rear but a blank panel as the picture posted.

I will agree that re bumps, my 460 was smoother, probably because of wheels/tires. The 460 had 18” wheels, with Michelins, while my 550 has the 20” AMG wheels with summer run flats. I will have a better idea in a couple of weeks as I am changing to regular all season tires.

Just as an aside, to show how wheel sizes have evolved over the years, my 2000 Chevy 2500 Extended Cab Long bed pickup has 16” wheels.

I will also say that the 460 was more fun to drive, but the 550 (which I drive in Comfort Mode) is more enjoyable to drive, if that makes any sense.

As for Rami’s 430, I am also on a Lexus forum and many there believe the 430 is the best Lexus ever made. It was several years between selling my 430 and buying a 460 that I really don’t remember the nuances of the 430, other than it was a great car.

Thanks. I agree, this car (Lexus L430) was really built to run literally forever if you maintain it. I really can't believe it took it from ~120K miles to 230K miles so far with $0.00 spent so far any service excluding $300 for brake pads and rotors + cost of oil change and light bulbs. I haven't even changed any steering or brake oil or coolant which is a huge mistake, but despite that it's still running like a dream!.

I have the 2005 custom luxury ls430 only 89k miles on it and had it for 11 years bought it CPO, it has door closures, laminated glass, and radar cruise.mark Leviton, suede roof. Lol loaded more than most Mercedes and never had 1 problem with it , they are great cars , but so are the LX470 and Lx570 which we also have but just sold lx470. But isn’t this a Mercedes Forum. LOL Makes you proud to have enjoyed a great car.

I was literally about to sign and buy the lexus LS 500 2019 just same day i purchased my W222.
I was at the dealership, i said, hey, here is my offer for this W222, if you don't take it i've already tested and going to buy the LS 500 right there across the street. He came back after 5 min, and said, DEAL!!!... i was shocked!!! i really had 90% confidence they he was going to reject my offer cause i offered him 10% less than asking price, i was honestly ready for him to come back and say no how about somewhere in between so i can leave and go get the LS 500..... when he said DEAL, i felt like, that's it, am just gonna take it ..... it all happens for a reason man.... now when i look at my w222 am like man it looks 99 nicer than LS500.

don't say that until u own it, drive it and keep it. I've owned and still own both at the same time, S-class and LS., they are both great, S-class certainly has more advantages, but Lexus LS is certainly not a dressed up Camry unless u never owned an LS in particular. Far more reliable than S-class.

A ES series Lexus IS a dressed up Camry , but the LS is a totally Japanese made car, And only made for the US market. You couldn’t buy one in Japan , on aside note the LS engine is the only FAA approved car engine you can put in a plane. When first ones came out. MB can’t say that.

I guess I need to go check out the new ones, last time I was looking I drove both the LS and the S that I own now. LS was nice, just seemed very generic. And I am not a Lexus hater, my wife drives an RX and it is a great SUV.
