W222 oil viscosity SAE Switching
Hello to everyone newbie here in the forum ..
i own a 2014 W222 S550 i was curious about switching from 5W40 SAE (which is what MB recommend) to 0W40 SAE Pennzoil. why I’m willing to do this is because i can get this type of oil for free from a company i work with.. is it ok ? or it’s bad for the engine? as i read there’s no much difference between them i just want to make sure hearing from you guys.
Sorry for my bad English
Thanks in advance..

With MBs it is not the grade/weight of the oil 5W-40, but the additive package meating the Mercedes oil standards MB229.5.
As far as the 5W->0W, this will be ZERO problem.
However make sure the oil has the 229.5 label.
