PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE!

My S560 just got approved for buyback and I'm waiting for the offer from the 3rd party company. In the meantime, I'm looking into my next choice to take advantage of the end of the year deals!
I have been looking at lots of models ( Of course only Mercedes Benz ) and came down to 2 models. Another 2020 S560 or a 2019 AMG GLS 63. I know! 2 absolutely different cars. I don't need the utility of the GLS but always wanted an AMG SUV. GLS is the only SUV I like, however, I know the interior of the GLS is not even closed to the S class. I'm not sure the build quality of the GLS is the same as S class. The Dealer gives me a significant discount on GLS since it will not be any 2020 model and 2021 will be completely different. What do you think? Which one would you choose? I know this is the S class forum and I will post the same threat on GLS Forum.
Thanks for sharing.

Why don’t you wait another year and get a w223?

The dealer will play his game, that’s what he wants to move another vehicle that’s going to sit for months.

I would stay with what I have and wait for the next generation.

I love my S class but if I wanted an SUV I would be looking at the full size Range Rover. It is like an S class SUV if you equipe it right. It will probably be my next vehicle when I get tired of a sedan. You can get a super low mileage 1 or 2 year old Autobiography model for under 100K and they are very nice. Almost as quiet as the S and the V8 gives it plenty of giddy up. MY18 and up have the new electronics so that it what I would shoot for.

Here is what I'd would do if I want to buy or trade-in between now or during the next 5 months:
Get the new GLS AMG (why to switch from S560 to S560 again!), enjoy the switch from S-class Sedan to SUV for about 18 months, wait until October of 2021 (2 years from now) and trade it in for the "2nd year" W223. Again, never get the 1st year, so this switch will give u the chance to try something new, and at the same time buy some time until the 2nd year W223 is available. Also, for that reason, I'd get a used GLS AMG with few thousands miles so you won't lose that much when u trade it in compared to buying or leasing a brand new GLS now. If am not enjoying my current S-class now, that's what i would do but am not a fan of SUVs, I LOVE big sedan cars and if nothing maybe sport coupes is the only other option but large sedans like S-class and BMW-7 series are the only cars I enjoy.

So, having said that, ultimately I would keep your S-class and just wait until u r ready to witch to W223 after few years or whenever depending on how you like to spend your money (cars vs life-style/family or business) you make that decision, My feeling is that you gonna hate the GLS after few weeks or months when u compare it to the luxurious driving style of the sedan S-Class, so think twice and don't let the salesman do his job and convince u to switch to something else by the time u already have the greatest car already, they just want to sell all their 560 inventory now cause they now price will really drop (or at least buying rate with drop) once the W223 is released, so they are okay with keeping the used one until a good offer comes but no the brand new ones for sure.

I can’t stay with what I have. My current S560 will be buyback by Mercedes Benz due to the technical issue and I won’t have a car by the end of next week!

The GLS was technically outdated many years ago. Dealer has been offering these AMG's for up to $40k off but there is no way I would get a new old car.

I agree with wolfman here in regards to not buying a new old car.

I just leased a fully loaded 2020 S560 yesterday. Its a significant upgrade over my 2017 S550. Its the last year of this model run, so they are as trouble free as they will ever be and you can get really good deals on them. Thus, I would get another S560. I'm not a big fan of the GLS. test drive the brand new one and see how you like it. (I did not like the old one). I did test drive the brand new BMW X7 and it was amazing. So I suggest you test drive that too.
