Cheap rear license plate bracket on W222

Went to put a nice frame around my license plate and wasn't able to screw in the screws. Don't know how the plate stayed on for the 2 weeks I had the car since buying it used.
a $118,000 car with a cheap nut and screw system that is prone to break! Come on MB!!!!

Well atleast now they are using plastic. Upto about a few years ago they were using steel license plate brackets. The problem with the steel brackets is that after a few years the screws would rust into the bracket so that if you wanted to take the license plate off you had to actually rip the plate off and/or saw the rusted screws with a hacksaw.

I drilled the top holes larger and inserted the white things to accept screws. Problem solved

Its a nice bracket, but I would put some kind of felt or rubber pads behind where it would contact the paint. Metal on paint will cause more damage than plastic or rubber. Not sure if there is an offset that would allow the mount not to be on the paint, if so, nice find.

It's funny I see this, just today I noticed that the dealer ( Massachusetts largest car dealer) used coarsed thread screws, that didn't fit,to mount my plate. It fell off when I was washing the car for the first time. I had machine screws that were the size of the holes. Now I'm nervous that those screws will get corroded in like that disaster you posted.
