Heated steering wheel problems

My 2019 S560 has the warmth and comfort package. The heated console and arm rests are heavenly. The back seat is opulent and beyond comfortable. The heated steering wheel is... well... not heated.

whenever I switch it on, the display indicates that it has been activated. The switch itself glows red, of course. But the wheel temp never changes much. Maybe one out of every ten attempts works.

I had a heated steering wheel in my 2013 S550 before this car, and there was an issue with this feature there as well. But it was different. In the W221 the light didn’t even go on maybe 1/4 of the time. So no light and no heat. A package deal.

in the W222 it’s even worse because the red light goes on every time, but the heat almost never works. Has anyone else encountered this? Is it a complicated fix?

Time for a trip to the dealer, it's clearly a warranty issue. Could be a broken contact in the "clock spring" that is in the steering column that provides all the electrical connections to the steering wheel so that you can turn the wheel.

It's related to the spoiler removal.
