I occassionally hear a faint squel on backing up. Asked the S/A if the 222 had a dashboard notification if pads were due. He said some pads have the sensors to issue a notice but, some do not. He suggested and inspection. My question is: before I spend $ on labor for visual inspection, how do I determine if my pads have sensors or not?

YES at here is a notification if pads are due. I would suggest your faint sqeek is nothing of any concern.

 

Plus you can clearly see if your rotors are getting messed up with groves, etc through the wheels as long as you have open spoke wheels which you more than likely do.
