Spare tire for 2015 s class

I am considering going away from the standard run flats and going with standard tires. I also will purchase a spare just for my piece of mind when taking long trips. The only spares I see online are those that came with the 2013 and older s class. Can anyone tell me for sure whether this particular spare will fit on my 2015? The specs that are listed for the spare are that its size is 155/70/19 and the part number is 2214000202.
I will appreciate all feedbck that anyone can give regarding whether this spare will fit the 2015 s class.

The spare for the W221 (prior model) will fit the W222. Make sure the kit comes with the special lug bolts for the small spare. You’ll also need a jack kit and hopefully the eBay offerings include this. It can be purchased separately or you need the following (portable jack, wheel chock, special Mercedes flower socket for removal of your lug bolts, standard socket for placing the special spare bolts, and a long socket wrench or breaker bar. Or a AAA membership.

I’m very happy with the trade off of decreased trunk space for the performance of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ Tires. The tire center at Costco would not mount standard tires on my car until they saw the spare tire and kit in my trunk.

I bought my W221 compact spare on eBay. Notice the special lug nuts shrink wrapped to the wheel in the photo below. I also bought my W222 jack & tool kit on eBay from a supplier in Germany. I bought these first for my 2015 S550 sedan and then kept them for my 2018. On my MBC equipped S560 sedan, I run 18” wheels with Bridgestone QuietTrack tires, giving me the best riding car I have ever owned and I am an absolute freak about quietness and ride quality. Run flats or conventional tires, if you travel out of metro areas without a spare, you are unprepared. RFT will help with simple punctures, but hit a major road hazard which shreds your tire, cracks your wheel, etc. and you are at the mercy of a tow truck driver. Doing away with a proper jack & spare by the factory, was a truly asinine decision.

Remember, doing away with the jack and tire helped reduce carbon emissions by .0000-something. Mercedes owners have been conscripted into the German government's plans to save the world ...

Streamliner,

Well I should have listened to you years ago! On my recent trip from Pittsburgh, PA to/from Houston, TX I hit a six inch bolt that was on the highway about 50 miles from the nearest MB dealer on the northern side of Houston. The bolt tore through my tire and pierced the wheel and put a nice hole in the wheel. Needless to say, I waited on the side of the road for 2 hours to have my car towed on a flat bed to the nearest MB dealer which was Mercedes Benz of the Woodlands (great dealer by the way). About $4500 later and three extra days waiting for my new $2500 wheel I was on my way (replaced all four tires as one was pierced with the big bolt and the other had a screw in it with the other two just close enough to the wear bar to simply replace all four tires). But man what a hassle. If only MB would include some kind of spare. I may have had to still delay my trip to wait for the new MB wheel as no Houston dealer had my AMG wheel for the '19 S63 and the Dallas dealers apparently would not dealer trade the wheel so my trip was lengthened by three days waiting for a new AMG wheel made out of $2500 of gold.

I was “BUILDING” a Jaguar F-Pace online and saw this. WHY won’t MB offer such an option?

Very sorry to hear of your ordeal. I believe that you should send your post to MBUSA. Only if enough people complain will it ever change.

Hi,
I just bought a 2015 S550 4matic (with only 2000 miles and 1 owner!) and freaked when I saw there was no spare. My car is on the original bridgestone Turanza EL400 runflats. I just came back from my MB dealer who placed an order for me to get a donut size spare ($416+tax) MB part # 2054000100. I was told its a 17" and will fit my S class. I bought the MB jack and tool kit from ebay.

I hope this helps.

Emeel
Update (7/30/2020) as promised: I went to my MB dealer and picked up the donut - and it did not fit as superpop correctly predicted. Shame on my dealer retail sales team for not knowing their technicalities. I tried to delete this posting but could not figure how to so as not to mislead / confuse anyone. If anyone knows how to please do so.

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
Emeel, if that is your S class in your avatar I assume you have the AMG sport package. A 17" spare will not fit on the front wheels of that car as the spare will hit the brake caliper. Doubt it will fit on the back either. Plus you have 4Matic so you cannot put a smaller spare on your car without risking damage to the diff and trans. Any spare you put on your car has to be within 3% of the rolling diameter of all the other wheels.

Smile Mb just ordered me a donut sized spare for my 2015 W222 4matic -ENIGMA decoded!

Fellow MBer's,

I just bought a 2015 S550 4matic (with only 2000 miles on it and 1 owner!) and freaked when I saw there was no spare. My car is on the original bridgestone Turanza EL400 runflats 245/50 R18 on standard MB 10 spoke S class rims. I just came back from my MB dealer who placed an order for me to get a donut size spare ($416+tax)
MB part # 2054000100. I was told its a 17" and will fit my S class. I was told it would not damage the 4matic system and would be enough to get me to a dealer or home and I could use it on the front or back axle (despite being staggered). I bought the MB jack and tool kit from ebay. The outing of this part number must be the next big thing after the ENIGMA decoding!

Its going to arrive in a couple of days so I will try it on and update my stepneyless bretherin. I hope this helps.

Emeel

Hi Superpop,

My S class is a not an AMG. Its on the R18 standard rims and stock Turanza's. I asked the sales person specifically about the 4 matic system and how the donut might drive it crazy and she explained that a donut spare is always 1" smaller than the original rims and that the outer circumference is still the same hence it should be fine. On the computer image she showed me I think i recall the aspect ratio being 60 rather than 50 as on my tires so that might compensate for the 1" smaller rim. When it arrives Im going to measure the diameter and ask the same question of my service advisor. I will update when i find out more. Has anyone else on this thread ever ordered this part number spare?
