MEXICO CONFIGURATOR (NO PANO ROOF)
I know Steamliner and others have commented that they wish the panoramic roof wasn't standard in the US. With the current stay-at-home situation going on, I was fooling around with MB configuators around the world, and happened to notice that in Mexico, the pano roof is an option. That and the folding tables in the back seat are about the only options available. Almost everything else is standard, including Magic Body Control, Heads Up Display, Night View Assist, Distronic, Park Assist, etc. The price came out to MXN 3,166,000 or about US$140,000. So maybe a trip to Mexico City might be in order if you don't want a pano roof. Getting it registered in California may be another issue.

Yes, it is optional in Mexico. It is also optional in Germany, as per this screen shot from the MB Germany “Build” site and most likely in several other markets around the world. It’s not that they can’t do it, it’s not that it would be a big deal to do it, it’s that they WON’T do it in the USA, which makes at least this customer quite unhappy. Hell, I would happily pay a $10,000.00 special order charge to get the car without the glass roof, I dislike it so much. Right now, the only things that keep me in an S Class, are the ride quality, the safety systems and the fact that no other maker is offering something comparable without the frigging, glass roof.
