My new 6 week old 2020 S-560 is finally home from the shop. Going to press MBUSA Corporate for some kind of compensation to me or MB Financial. Anyone had luck with this?

Purchased the car last month and immediately noticed a whining noise above 50MPH and very hard shifting. First dealer kept it for two weeks and replaced the rear diff with no improvement. Told me the tranny was normal and tried to force adapt it. Took it to another dealership MB Ft. Washington and they were absolutely exceptional. Worked with engineering and both issues are gone. There’s still a slight roughness in sport mode but I’m going to put a couple thousand miles on it to see how it adapts.

I don’t know about any “after the fact” compensation. I mean if you wanted to buy or lease another new MB, they might offer you some additional discount. You might get them to kick in pre-paid maintenance or something like that. In the end, I’m very happy you got the problem solved, congratulations!

I also took mine to MB of FT. Washington and they replaced my rear diff. Whining was when cruising from 60 to 55. Did replacing valve body solved the harsh shifting problem?

So what was the fix? The second dealer did a better job at re-adapting the transmission?

Yeah am also curious - It’s often very useful for the community here if the service notes can be posted. My guess would be that they re-did the force adaptation. Force adaptation is VERY tricky. When I lived in NC a few years ago and had my first W222, my dealer in Raleigh wouldn’t allow any tech but one to do Force Adaptation… They had only one tech who knows how to do it the right way - obviously following the TBS or Xentry instructions isn’t enough. Mbenz in Charlotte tried to fix the issue first with no luck. Force Adaptation performed by Matt at Mercedes of Raleigh fixed the issue 100%.
