FYI- MB is no longer allowing lease transfers

I just found out today that Mercedes is no longer allowing lease transfers as of June. My local Porsche dealer has a dozen Taycans that were ordered as early as March and they were never sold and as such they are giving them away. I was toying with the idea of swapping out my S as I have done in the past but found out they no longer allow assumptions. What swap now does is they use your current payoff and structure it as a loan (they quote 72 months) for prospective buyers. I just thought this would be useful to those of us who do swap in or out from time to time....

Yes, I saw that a couple of months ago. I returned my 2012 S550 at lease end and got a 2014 ML350 that I ordered. I thought I’d be an SUV guy, but REALLY missed my big S Class. About a year into the three year lease on the ML, I ordered a 2015 S550. I listed the ML on MBWorld and a member took over the lease, easy-peasy. Today, if I wasn’t prepared to take a massive loss by either selling the ML & paying off the lease or trading it to the dealer, I’d be stuck with it and would not have gotten the 2015 S550. I really think MB has shot themselves in the foot—yet again—by not allowing lease assumptions. Seems to me that allowing them was a win-win-win for everyone concerned. Oh well.
