Thinking of buying the above mentioned car & am seeking any tips/info for guidance. MB certified with 41K miles & factory warranty until 4/22/2023. Have never owed a MB before so totally uninformed. In particular: any chronic problems or pecularities that are a nusiance?

Just finished reading here about the aux battery/capacitor failure - although an aggravation , not that much of a big deal.

I am accustomed to doing my own maintenance, but will be letting MB do it until factory warranty expires. That said, I know this car has lots of sensors & computers that I suspect will require MB do maintenance using specialized diagnostic equipment. So I would like to hear opinions as to how feasible is doing my own maintenance/repairs?

TIA, Joe
For good reference and trans concerns take a look at what Konigstiger posts.

I'm shopping too and all of the points expressed here make sense. For my tastes, this one checks a lot of boxes ... nice nappa interior with power rear seats, a less-common (blue) color, 19" wheels which will be more comfortable with non-runflats than the common 20's, CPO and a nice amount of warranty.

Nice '17s I see are asking mid-50s, so this one does look a touch high but CPO adds about $2k to selling price, so with that considered it's in line.

Good idea to pull the datacard and really understand all the options it has. As someone said, not having the surround view is unfortunate and there are a lot of other useful things you can get on these cars.

For comic relief, here's a really overpriced '17 over in Houston. The dealer will not budge a penny from the asking price on this one, so just gives one more datapoint on values ... https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-fo...-benz-s-class/

Thats actually a pretty good deal on that car, it is equipped nearly identical to my 2018 S560 which is a very rare car with just about every option box checked. Thats at least a 155K sticker car and about as close to a Maybach as you can get. The seat color looks kinda strange though at least to me, I'd just prefer the silk beige like my car it equipped with. One other thing that was not mentioned is with a 2018 and up you get the good 3 spoke steering wheel with the little mouse pads on either side which is nicer than the buttons like on the older ones. You get into a 2019 and you get the the better ATT internet features and even more improved Distronic. I will say though the internet features are working out a lot better in my 2018 vs my 2017.

I had an Apple CarPlay kit in my Lexus. Its better than no CarPlay, but they are buggy and inconsistent. OEM CarPlay is way better.

If your an Android user look for a mid-year or later 2017 model. The first couple of months had Apple Car Play only. Later production had Apple and Android.

2017 late production definitely had Android. It's actually listed as Standard in the 2017 Sales Brochures. My own 2017 was produced on 7/16 and Android was listed on the factory paperwork but it was NOT installed on the command system. After months of research and a lot of arm twisting, MB agreed to reprogram my command unit with the Android (mainly because the brochure and all the paperwork confirmed it should have been included). Very involved and time-consuming process. I would not recommend it to anyone. Both Android and Apple are now on my command system.

I think all 2017's produced after 9/16 have both Apple and Android on their command systems.
