winter tire question

Hello everyone, I have a set of like new 245/45/18 Nokian Hakkepellita R3 (1,100.00) tires left over from my Volvo S90. I would like to use them on my S550, I have ordered some TSW 18" wheels for the car so I can mount snows onto them. Currently the car is running 19" staggered factory all season run flats from Michelin. I don't care for the ride quality and was planning to switching to 18" year round, I have already purchased a 2015 small size S class spare. THE QUESTION is.....can I run the above tire INSTEAD of the factory size of 245/50/18.?? The width is the same, my tire that I have on hand is .96" shorter in height. It doesn't seem like an extreme amount. The tire chart shows it will have 3.6% more revolutions per mile. What would be adverse effects? Would this be OK? Thanks!

Yours is 4Matic? I would be very careful messing with the wheel/tire diameters with 4Matic.

The maximum safe difference is recommended at +/- 3% on tire size.

I suggest you not exceed that range.

Thanks all, I just saw that on a tire website as well, while physically they will fit on the wheel the maximum height is not to exceed 3%. Now, just to be clear I was using FOUR tires of the same brand and size. Even though they are the same height, they are TOO short by.06%.......ill try selling those and then buy the correct size 245/50/18. Thanks again!!

Chances are you'll find the 18 inch rims won't fit on the front. If you have the AMG sport option for sure they won't fit.

18" TSW Clypse 18x8.5 ET 42 fit just fine, about .125 inch to caliper. Gloss black, they are cheap enough for winter wheels at 1080 for he four of them I will be buying correct 245/50 tire though and not trying to use the ones I had leftover from Volvo

Not surprising that they fit; my understanding is that the AMG sport package on the W222 is just an appearance pack....the front rotors should be the same size as a non-AMG sport package model.
