I wouldn't say "mostly" integrated, far from it. It's in your face. I don't think anyone is in love with slapped on screens but the overall design language of the Range is more tasteful than the S to some. The vents are more streamlined and cleaner (and look better), actual A/C controls, and of course an integrated instrument cluster. As for glitchy/laggy tech, no auto maker is immune as we know.

Yeah I ain't paying $100k+ on a vehicle that I don't like to look at. I have a minivan, and it has a lot of utility but its never a vehicle that I would enjoy driving.
My issue with the W223 is the screen for the instrument cluster, not the center screen. On this RR its integrated nicely with a nice binnacle, looks WAY better than the tacked on screen with huge bezels the W223 uses.

Has anybody looked at the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer yet? That thing is huge, but feels much smaller than it's size on the road and has some pretty incredible tech. If I were in the market for a new SUV, that would be on my short list.

The interior from what I've seen looks decent and actually has some really smart features (Amazon Fire TV's for the rear screens), but the exterior is beyond hideous, like absolutely awful, and the MPG matches the looks. I know MPG is typically poor in this class of car, but the GW somehow takes it to another level of poor compared to an Escalade or Navigator. Also the majority of CDJR dealers (at least for me) are trash.

I traded in my W222 for a Lincoln Navigator. I tell you one thing, I did not regret it and I loved my Navigator way more than W222..... W222 is a sedan so it is more stable on the ground, but the Navigator certainly has all the luxury and weight you'd need.

I have heard of the nightmares RR has provided, we used to have two long running jokes on this forum to ground anyone- Range Rover Sport and our favorite meal- lemon boiled steak. If you aren't from that time it sounds alien but at the time when we talked of a problem then someone would say RRS and all our problems seemed minor. And I'm not sure where the lemon boiled steak came from, probably me or redmarko. It was a good time until BOB destroyed the forum. If you want to relive a blast search this forum for those 2 phrases and you will have a wonderful weekend of reading.

S Class
I own both an S Class (W222) and a Range Rover (L405). I have actually owned 2 each of these (now outgoing) generations over the past 7 years. My early L405 Range Rover had a few teething issues (2013 car) during the first 10k miles, nothing major but maybe 3 dealer trips to resolve, so definitely annoying. But I bought a new L405 in 2017 and it has run flawlessly since I've had it - now covered 85,000 miles. The 2 S Classes have been perfect with no issues.
I believe the Range Rover to certainly be the most comparable SUV to the S Class. It is a luxury oriented vehicle, few (if any) other brands seem able to do that - most end up compromising the luxury feel by introducing sporty elements (seating position, styling, etc).
Both the S Class and Range Rover are classic vehicles and very beautiful designs. I believe them to be the 'ultimate' in their segment and as someone said, well looked after examples remain classy for many years in a way very few mass-produced vehicles do.
I use my S Class driving between my family home and my apartment in the city once per week (a 200 mile round trip) and use the Range Rover for driving with the family at weekends - my wife uses it driving kids etc around during the week. I have no interest in any other vehicles, these 2 are perfect for me. I'd love to get a W223 and L460 at some point, but not just yet as my W222 and L405 are still running beautifully and are well looked after.

It can still be a good looking automobile yet still be dated. The W221 is really dated looking, I parked next to one at work yesterday and it looks its age for sure.
As cars get smoother sided, honestly the W222 looks a little dated down the side too.

The Range Rover L405 LWB/5.0 SC is one of the select few SUVs that rides like an s class.
Keep in mind only the LWB model and/or the 5.0 SC SWB ride that well. This is due to the dynamic response system (ACE Active Cornering Enhancement). The RRs equipped with this feature not only drive really good but they handle phenomenal. I can take sharp curves and twisties at 80-90 MPH with the slightest body roll and extremely precise handling. Hands down one of the best all weather/all purpose vehicles around. Both RR LWB of mine have 22s (275/40/22) and the ride is great. Night and day better and less stiff than my W222 on 20s with RFT.
The normal base model/SWB without the ACE system does not handle good and drives like a typical SUV. Even the new generation L460 IMO doesn’t drive as good nor feel as refined as the L405. Let’s forget about the terrible move JLR did by going with BMWs TT V8 on the new gen.
I almost have 200k miles on one of my L405s and the other one has about 100k. Besides a few minor issues they’re built good.

From India, but I thought this was a good watch. Note that while he loved the Range Rover, its not quite the equal of the S Class in riding comfort. But, its likely the closest you will get.
