R774 (CO2) AC conversion to R124
Hey,
Unfortunately, my system failed on my face-lifted S560 (EU) due to compressor failure. The entire system is filled with metal chips and requires replacement of all parts and expensive labour at the dealership, since it's the only place that carries CO2 machines in my country.
Question - do you think conversion to R124 is possible, since I need to replace essentially most of the major components, such as radiator, compressor and evaporator? If yes, what kind of parts would be required to be changed? My main concern is electronics.
PS. I just realised I posted on the wrong forum (I own coupe), but I guess similar pattern will apply.

Not sure if a dealer could do it but as far as I know only the EU models have this terrible R774 air conditioning so from a technical perspective it should be possible. It could not be allowed legally though and I doubt that the dealer would have an official conversion instruction or something. Even if, you are looking at thousands of dollars/euros for parts and labour.
I've had a lot of problems with this terrible AC in my sedan as well. I envy people who do not have it.
