2019 S560, 2022 Audi S8
Sadly no trade in tax credit in California and now some other states. The new purchase is taxed at 100% purchase price, regardless what or if you’re trading something in.
I would only sell my S550 to upgrade to a newer post 2018 S, like an S63 - which I’m debating now actually. Just trying to convince myself if it’s really worth the high entry cost, plus maintenance costs about double, and my registration and insurance will go up.
Lower model Mercedes cars like E and C, no thanks. I’ve had them as loaners and there’s no comparison despite them just looking like a smaller S.

I absolutely love my '19 S63 AMG. I have 30,000 miles on it at it has been trouble free. But I completely agree on the cost of brake pads and rotors. Very recently I spent just over $7000 for brake pads and rotors. But you are going to have to pry this car out of my hands. I absolutely love the '19 S63 and I have owned S Class cars for almost 30 years buying new ones every 3 to 5 years.
Although the S63 is a blast to drive and have fun with for awhile, I would never buy one again as the motor is no better and the costs of brakes, rotors, pads, tires are enormous. I switched to a S560 two years ago and it is awesome. Seems people have a lot of engine trouble with the AMGs, especially misfires, head gaskets leaking, etc. I know of 3 examples of friends of mine that have similar stories. The alignment of the wheels are also a potential problem. Just my experience.

I have a 2017 S550 with Warmth and Comfort, 36K miles. I like the 2017 as it has the 9 speed auto and still has the 4.7 engine. Black over black, maintenance isn't bad at all. Just had brakes done at independent used factory parts all around, 2450.00. There is nothing else that drives like this car....well maybe RR but Im not paying that! If I had to do again I would get a car with 3D and the limo seating rear with four zone climate.

2016 S550
My 16 S550 has 4 zone, and although it’s nice to have I always have to resynch the zones after someone rides in the back and changes it. Also 4 zone takes up most of the center console storage
I also wished I had gotten 3D sound, so added the rotating tweeters available from eBay or Amazon on the cheap which look and sound great. Also added a JL Audio subwoofer and amp at the same time, and the whole upgrade sounds amazing. Really wakes up the standard Burmester.

You can get a full set of genuine MBZ S550 pads and rotors front and rear from FCP Euro for $1030, or for an S63 for $2480, and pay a local independent $200-300 to install. So there’s definitely lower cost options for brakes and maintenance, plus FCP offers a full lifetime replacement warrantee that includes normal wear.

That is an expensive Indy. Not saying they’re not worth it, but the parts are $1300 so you’re paying $1100 for 2-3 hours labor. Most high-end Indy shops only charge $150-200/hr. Consider all of this next time you have a repair there. One time years ago I had a high-end Indy that was charging me 20% more than the MB dealership for a broken air strut. Kind of a no brainer at that point, right?

They are expensive. NO ONE around here will install your parts. I don't blame them, I was a contractor for years before I became a minister. I learned NOT to let people provide their own stuff, wrong parts, incomplete order, no install hardware, cheap offshore crap. It was endless, I understand that parts are part of a service provider's price structure. I just looked at invoice, they did plugs and oil change as well. Plugs because of a very light flutter at idle, he said usually not till 50K but he said a good thing to rule out. It did not help the flutter......They are a renowned Porsche shop and I have my Boxster serviced there as well. A great shop, Autowerkes Maine. Euro cars only, NO Japanese cars ever!
