Auxiliary Battery Charging
How does the auxiliary battery get charged within the operation of car. This auxiliary battery was replaced 3 months ago as messages on dash pointed to its failure (seems normal as battery was four years old). Car's operation now running normal with the new auxiliary battery.
I let the car sit for three weeks and wanted to put the car into 'standby mode". The car wouldn't allow it saying voltage was too low. Charging the main battery did not change this low voltage reading on the auxiliary battery. I took the car for a three hour road trip and when at my destination noticed that the auto start/stop did not kick in. It would not go into 'standby mode' once again. On the return three hour drive the car will finally enter 'standby mode'.
I'm wondering if the dealer actually replace the auxiliary battery. Is the main battery (still original) failing and therefore causing the auxiliary battery not to charge?
