Adaptive Break Light and Pre-Safe Plus on North American Cars
Adaptive Break Lights
Adaptive Break Lights flashes the break light rapidly when emergency braking is detected to warn drivers behind (attached video) The function is standard in most cars and all Mercedes outside North America.

To activate the function, equipment with software such as DTS Monaco is needed. In DTS, the setting is in BC_F(model number) such as BC_F213, then choose enable under “Gafahrenbremsung”
The exact menu could be different between models but should be similar.
Pre-Safe Plus (some market called it Pre-safe Rear)
This function work in conjunction with the optionally equipped rear radar, often part of the driver assistance package (factory code 23p)
Pre-safe Plus uses the radar inside the rear bumper to sense for potential rear end collision. Such as cars from behind approaching too quickly. When a potential rear end collision is detected, the system activates pre-safe which includes closing of window, seat adjustment, flashing the rear hazed light rapidly to warn the driver behind(attached) and holding the break firmly if the car is stopped. Pre-safe is available in North America, however, one important function: rapidly flashing the rear hazard light is deactivated due to US regulation.
To activate the function, equipemnt with software such as DTS Monaco is needed. In DTS, the setting is in BC_F(model number) such as BC_F213, then enable it under “warnblinker”
The exact menu could be different between models but should be similar.
Note that many Mercedes in North America uses the break light as turn signal, when activating this function in these cars, the break light flash rapidly when potential rear end collision is detected because it is used as turn signal/hazard light. For cars with separate, amber turn signal, factory or retrofitted, the function will work as intended.
