Lightbulb Noise-reduced tires with foam material inside - What is your experience?

Recently learned about noise-reducing tires, like CONTISILENT, etc.
What is your experience with them, is it a noticeable improvement in removing road noise?
How does it affect that ride smoothness? It is reported that some extra stuff inside of tires can make it more sensitive to bumps etc, is this the case?

Is it worth it? Thanks!

V. interesting. If it's truly as simple as bonding a layer of PU foam to inside of the tire, one wonders if you could just add it to an existing tire? I'd love to try it out and see how effective it is.

Here's a tech article from Tire Rack ... https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret...sp?techid=336&

I got Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 as only A/S available last week and it has foam inside as Tesla T0 original tire... The comfort is better than Conti Sport 6 Summer tires, but I think that is more due to the Michelin's softened sculpture A/S construction for snow performance that soaks up the small imperfections in many roads...

According to car and driver article there is only marginal difference with the acoustic tires:
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a1...sh-road-noise/

Also per Tesla users, many tire shops will not attempt to repair a foam-equipped tire with a standard inside-the-tire patch, as removing the acoustic foam is a pain, and getting good adhesion for the patch is also a problem... You can get a quieter tire by switching to a different tire than the tire with attached foam... I didn't have any other option for 21" A/S...

The 20" foam lined Hankook Ventus S1 Nobel 2 (MOE) on our W223 are a lot more quiet than the non-foam lined the 19" Continental Pro Contact GX SSR (MOE) tires on our W222.

The foam lining seems to squelch the "ringing" or "singing" of the tires and that would make sense. The Continentals have a way more smooth ride though, like your riding on glass & doesn't all seem to be due to the 19" vs 20" size. I would contribute it to the better tread design on the Continentals. Not sure how the foam will react to being exposed to a tire repair slime if used. Is it closed cell or open foam. Hmm.

I may give the ContiSilents a try when the Hankooks and Pro Contacts wear out.

I too am considering this, as the Pirelli Pzero All Season Plus have a PNCC option for the front tire size, but only the front.

If you read Tesla forums, none of them report an increase in noise when they REPLACE the OEM tires with this feature, my guess is that the benefit is very small. I'll get them for the front of mine if the sidewall is the same as the rears without it...why not? If they look different though I will skip it.
