My Buick had a lot of bolts to get to the battery. Tech had trouble getting them back right.
Mercedes battery 2020 S560 in trunk or under hood? Mine just replaced after 2 years.

Just looking at my battery and it would appear I have a Lithium Ion battery in my S63. Is there a reason they used this type of battery? I ask because a new one is close to 2K and I am wondering if an AGM will work the same. Nothing wrong with the battery now but dreading the replacement cost.

A new LION battery is 2 grand. That is why I asked the question. If MB utilized a Lithium Ion battery to save 20 pounds of weight and an AGM will work just as well than that is the direction I will go, if this car has a specific requirement for a LION battery than I will spend the money.

This is my first car with an AGM main battery and it's the original item from the 5/2016 manufacture date, so just now passed six years of use. I have about 45,600 miles on the car.
The car starts fine and everything works fine, but my past experience is an old battery often goes dead suddenly with little warning. The only thing I've noted in my year and a half of ownership is the car rarely ever goes into "auto stop" at stoplights, and I believe that behavior is a sign of a weak battery.
In other threads on this subject people say their main battery lasted longer than six years, so is mine likely to keep going a while longer, or should I go ahead and change it now to be on the safe side?

Had the same experience. Took my '20 S450 in for routine service...said it didn't pass their test...and the replacement was covered. About the only change I noticed was the auto off/restart function began functioning, with regularity, again.

Are the stock Mercedes batteries AGM? I can’t find it written anywhere on the battery or any reference online.

Here's what I put in my car ... https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart...0-CCA/40647529. AGM, 900 CCA, 4-year warranty and an excellent forearm workout for $169.
WalMart actually delivered it to the house for free with no core charge, so I just took the old one to the local recycling center.

I usually have my butler handle the battery recycling. 🙂

My car is showing all the symptoms of a dying battery... Was there any process you had to follow to replace the battery, or was it just a quick swap?
