Best S560 gas mileage
We went on a long drive through PA (mostly highway) and after 400 miles, the trip computer was showing 29 mpg.
Most of the drive was in the Economy mode.

I think the keys are to avoid stop and go, as well as be gently with the throttle.
The avg mpg slowly went up during the trip, as we got out of the towns and did more steady state cruising.
29 doesn’t surprise me at all. This is from my latest trip, the first 100 miles we’re mountains with grades, and the last 40 miles was bumper to bumper traffic. Cruising was with cruise set at 80.
'19 S560 here. I've seen 28/29 and even 30. The 30 was driving from northern Ca to Texas last April with one heck of a tail wind all the way.
It was very windy west of the Mississippi this year during the spring. Then the wind stopped blowng in July and our wind turbines in Tx just sat there at high noon and didn't do squat til the sun set. 38,000 GW of 'placard' wind turned into just 1,000 GW at noon ......or less.
Driving mode was set on Individual , with a stiffer suspension and the engine in eco. Car is a bit too soft when in Comfort.
Best I can achieve is when I visit Italy and I'm on the Autostrada, because these are quite long travels (5-7 hours is a lot for European standards). I've managed 7.8l/100km (30.1 mpg) and I usually end up with 8-8.1l/100km (29 mpg).
On more normal and shorter highways I'll be lucky if i manage 9.5 (24.7) and I usually end my trip around 10 (23.5) or so.
Really nice. I had a 2004 S500 4Matic that I think was about 18mpg. Now in a 2015 Buick LaCrosse AWD that gets 20mpg. Trying to put myself back into an S560 4Matic. If all I got was 25-27mpg I'd be happy for a car as big as the S560 4Matic.
The numbers you guys are reporting are awesome for a 4,600 (or more) pound car with a 450+ hp twin-turbo V-8 powertrain. Brilliant engineering by Mercedes
My '94 Porsche 928 does well to get 18 on the highway!
