Given the weight of these cars, I would think running these tires at 31psi would increase the risk of a blowout.

Just bought a 2017 S550 with the 20" AMG sport wheels. I've only had the car 4 days but I already want to change the wheels and tires to non run flat. I'm disappointed at the overall ride quality; I know it's due to low profile run flat tires. I'll probably change these out for non run flat 19's. The tires will be top notch, just non run flat. Looks like I'll have to hold onto my AAA membership.

In my opinion, RF tires are a waste of time and really do very little to prevent being stranded. In fact they can be problematic as most tire shops do not stock these types of tires. I was 30 miles from home in my S63 with Michelin AS4 Sport + non run flat tires and started the car up to discover that one tire had 19PSI of air in it, I had picked up a screw somewhere between Seattle and Tacoma. Pulled out the little pump that came with the car and let it run for about 10 minutes to air the tire back up to 45PSI, drove 30 miles back to Seattle losing a total of 1PSI to a local tire shop where they pulled the screw out and patched the tire. One hour later I was back on the road. Tire tech told me the tire was perfectly fine after the repair. A run flat would have produced the exact same result assuming I had the pump in my trunk. My advice is to buy a nice set of Michelin AS4 Sport+ tires for your car and equip your car with the Mercedes mobility kit that includes the pump and some sealant if needed. I also have a jack, set of wrenches and everything else I need to fully remove a tire for a side of the road repair including a basic tire plug kit. I carry all this stuff because I do not want to have to wait for roadside assistance to show up and then have my car towed to a dealer where I could face an hours long wait to do the same repair essentially burning most of a day over a simple temporary fix. I am also convinced that the RF tires are more susceptible to bending the rims as the sidewalls are very stiff, thus transferring more of the shock from a pothole to the actual rim. YMMV

Michelin tires loud? Not
[QUOTE=cfmistry;8658430]I would warn you against the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. They are very loud. Perhaps expected of an ultra-high performance tire.
My car is a 2018 S560 with 20" stock 15 spoke wheels - oh well we all get different results depending on where we drive - I've been driving on the Michelin AS 4's for about 10k miles and they are quite on the roads in GA and other southern states except TX on their tar and gravel stone roads - the only complaint I have is durability - I've replaced both front tires from road hazards (no flats) which I didn't even know I hit something - my tire source tells me it's a combo of the cars weight, low profile tires and 20" rims - what can you do that's the way it goes - all states except AL have crappy roads around my neck of the woods

Finally comparison of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S vs PIlot Sport AllSeason 4 vs CrossClimate 2 vs X-Ice Snow:
Now I switched to Alpin 5 winters, I can say that A/S 4 is quieter and much performance oriented... Alpin 5 is softer, more road compliant, not as quiet, but again it is softer on the cracks and joints, which helps on the noise as well...

After the winter I am going to get rid of the pirelli run flats and stow one in the trunk as a spare.
I'm switching to conti dsw06, 245/4519 for the front and 275/40/19 for the rears....best tires next to Bridgestone quietracks, which I had on my last Benz.
The pirelli that came with this car is way too noisy and of course they wear out quick, they are pirelli.

Just saw your post from November. How are your DWS 06 performing and wearing now with those high pressures?
