S550 Convertible/CABRIOLET

Is their a dedicated forum/section for S550 Convertible/CABRIOLET

If this is the right forum, I am looking at a pre-owned 2017 S550 Convertible/CABRIOLET fully loaded with every option (163K original MSRP). It has around 30K Miles.

Is their anything special to look for or reasons to stay away from the 2017 or the Convertible/CABRIOLET S550 models in general? I've been looking for W222 or Convertible/CABRIOLET for quite some time (can't wait to switch to MB coming from BMW X7 "note: I don't mind the lesser space").

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
This is probably the best sub forum for that car. The Coupe and Cabrio sub forums are pretty quiet. MY2017 is a great car and has the fairly reliable M278 motor and I think they went to the better 9 speed in 2017 if I recall correctly. I had a 2015 S550 4M sedan and it was fairly trouble free. I now have a 2019 S63 sedan and it too has been excellent. My wife does have a 2018 E400 Cabrio and one problem that is fairly well documented on the E class cabrio sites is the issue around the headliner cords on the convertible top. If the S550 uses the same cord system to support and fit the headliner then that cord system is susceptible to fraying and ultimately failure. Very expensive to fix out of warranty. We had her cords replaced under warranty and the dealer booked out 12 hours of labor plus the cost of the cord kit. Out of warranty I would guess this is a 4K job. Some have done the cord replacement themselves but it looks very technical and is probably prone to issues if not done right. If it was me I would try to find a 2018 or newer version as the tech inside improved dramatically in 2018 and you would also get the newer 4L motor and 9 speed trans.

Thanks!. Finding another FULLY LOADED 163K MSRP now yet for the price available to me is nearly impossible. I would love to have the facelift one with the new software, but those are rare anyway and finding yet one with the right specs (all options checked including 3D sound system, Designo interior and exterior color, night visiion camera, HUD, etc is really a hard find).

Thanks, @konigstiger . I am also interested to hear from the W222 owners being a relevant topic, if it's okay to keep this post here too.

Certainly, just wanted to give you the ability to search subjects of interest in additional forums.

@Highline-Autos.com What is the difference between Freedom Warranty Complete Manufactures Extension and Fidelity Platinum? Also, can you provide the same but for 2019 S550 Coupe (not convertible) with around 18K Miles, slightly less equipped?

The difference between the two is Freedom is capped at a $20k payout, but prices stay flat if the policy is purchased under 80k miles. Fidelity's payout is the value of the vehicle, but is extremely milage sensitive, increasing pricing by potentially thousands every 10k miles on the vehicle prior to coverage.

Thanks for sharing. I still have no decided. The nicely equipped one I found is a pre-facelift, but many folks are suggesting that i should get the facelift given the software/MBUX and drivetrain update, so I am still in the process of looking around for a reasonable priced one.
