2018 S450 what should I check
Hello W222 members,
I am getting 2018 S450 in 2 days, just want to know what should I check before taking it home.
The car service in dealer all the time and had 40K miles service done in Mercedes dealer last year July.
Now it has 46K miles. What should I pay attention to it ? It doesnt come with CD player right ?
Thanks.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
There's no CD player but you do have apple car play, that started in 2018. Might want to check the brake pads, if original it might need pads and rotors. The 3.0 V6 engine twin turbo is a good one, I have that motor in my E class and it's smooth and powerful and reliable. Make sure the car is sitting straight and at the proper level, thats a good indication the air suspension is ok. Maybe take a scanner and plug it into the obd2 port and make sure there are no codes or stored codes. If you don't have one most auto parts stores have them and will do it for you for free. The port is located drivers side just above where you knee sits under the dash. Beyond that just make sure it runs smooth and shifts smooth and no strange noises when you're driving it, the usual stuff.

Just based on my 9-months long searching experience for S560 recently, after seeing dozens of vehicles, one thing I noticed in 3 out of the 15 cars I inspected at dealers is that they had body damages and repair that was not reported in carfax!. If you really think you found THE ONE, and if dealer refuses to share all service records, hire a nearby bodyshop tech to check the car for you for any prior damage.
True story: One of the cars I inspected had a total invoice amount of $28K of body work that I swear was not reported on Carfax!. The car is still offered for sale to date!. Apparently the previous owner fixed it at his own cost and did not go through the insurance. I have copied of the car repair invoices because the bodyshop that Mbenz dealer hired for the work thought I am the current owner ( I was really about to buy it that day) and they release a copy of the body work records (3 repairs, one of them had 28K miles in repairs). That was a nightmare and I can't believe how I got out of that car just last minute. Since then, I started to look only for cars sold by the 1st owner directly, or worked with dealers willing to share the car history from A to Z.

I have a 2019 S450, and the only things that I have had to do are brakes (all the way around) and also I recently cracked one of the 20" rims. Other than that its been a great car, I spend at least 2 hours a day commuting (sometimes more!)
Things that I would check for, assuming that it has the Premium package, check that all of the seat bolsters work, and the massage functions, in both the drivers and passenger seat, and make sure that the blinds all work. If you have the Driver Assistance package, make sure that all of that works. I got lucky and mine still had a year of factory warranty on it (I just remembered, I also got the drivers door window switch unit replaced) I have now gone through it in mileage, but did but a MBZ EL Warranty.
I would say push every button and make sure that it does what it is supposed to do. Take your phone, with a cable, and make sure that when you plug it in, CarPlay/Android Auto work as expected.
the 450 is a great car, but I do feel that using Distronic all the time, does eat through the brakes!
