Question for Uniden R7/8, Valentine 1, Escort 360c owners.

I’ve been running Uniden r3‘s on my cars daily for a few years now. It’s worked flawlessly on a cross country drive (Bmw x5), in our Macan and S63 throughout the northeast (including VA/DC) and up to Toronto Montreal QC. Nothing but good things to say about the r3 really.

Lately I’ve been thinking about upgrading to the R8 for the directional arrows. My current set up is at the dash IR cutout, not interested in relocating to under passenger sun visor as it obstructs the use of the visor.

For those with directional arrow capable radar detectors, does the rear radar pick up strong enough signals to be of any use? Considering the IR glass at the rear windshield.

Yes for V1 rear range seems to match front range and arrows are a WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE type of feature.

Thanks ygmn, the rear IR glass had no major effect on blocking rear radar? That’s good to know

I am not sure about the claims that a radar detector only works in certain parts of the windshield. I have an Escort Max 360C and also the ZW-5 jammers and it all works great in my 2019 S63. My RD is mounted just to the left of my rear view mirror and I get accurate directional notification in any direction.

I do not know about your rear IR glass effecting range.
Maybe ask Valentine?

I just know the arrows are awesome from a figure out where the police speed radar gun is. kind of way

Thanks for the feedback, upper left (driver side) of the rear view is my ideal mounting location but I was under the impression the IR glass would be a problem.

Since I have two R3s I was thinking maybe I can test it by mounting one behind the IR portion and leave my other mounted at the cutout.

The next difficult part is picking out of the pool of the available top tier detectors..
