2015 S550 Steering wheel whine and vibration after driving for awhile-diagnosis

Hi,
So I took my S550 to a Mercedes certified mechanic not a dealership. I did the A3 service the car has about 51K miles. While it was in there I told them to check the steering wheel because i starting hearing a whine noise and some vibration when but it happened intermittently and not all the time. This car has electric steering but I did check the ABC fluid and it looked good.
They came back and stated they heard the noise and that my i need to change the drive belts in the front of the car with the pulleys.
I hope this will fix the issue and I am curious if this really caused it. Anyone have similar issue with the steering wheel whine and vibration??
