"Approved" by MB tires for W222
When I got my car it came with RF P Zeros. Had a nail in one of them at some point and it got replaced under Road Hazard Protection, no questions asked.
25k miles have since been driven and last time I took the car in for scheduled service my advisor said the rears should be replaced. He quoted me about 1400 for a pair of RF P Zeros. I declined because I was about to go on a long trip overseas and the car would be parked for 5-6 weeks. Next month I'll be back and will have to deal with this. Since it wasn't urgent I didn't do the quarter test to see thread depth. Will do that once I'm back. I did, however take pictures that I have attached. Don't know if they show enough detail for anyone to determine if they look good for now or should be replaced. Anyways, that's not really the question![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If I decide to replace them now, I was thinking about trying new tyres and buying them elsewhere as I'm sure I could get a better deal. Will most likely keep using RFs for a series of reasons. The question is, what would be considered "approved" tyres by MB, since my road hazard protection plan states that only those that fit that criteria are covered.
BTW the two pics with the wheels mounted are the ones I took after picking up the car, the other ones are the ones my advisor sent me earlier while the car was in for service.
Thanks guys

I'd replace them if that was me (comfortable ride with new tires is the best reward you could grant to yourself and your s-class).
By the way, do you think you have an even tread wear? Two of the photos (left) show as if the outside treads have more wear than the center? If the alignment is good, make sure you follow exactly the factor recommended PSI pressure. I was doing some search and despite some people recommending going slightly lower than factor PSI spec's (36 PSI for me with 19") for added comfort, it's absolutely a wrong approach. Research shows that even 4 PSI de-inflation difference can cause the center of the tire to have less friction and more on the sides "as in your case / left photo". Over-inflation will do the opposite (more on center treads and less on sides". Just thought I'd mention it given how one of your tires look like unless it is the front wheel.

Buying tires from a good tire store is almost always less costly than buying from the dealer. Most of those also include or make available Road Hazard protection plans. And there are many tire brands that are "approved" by Mercedes. Good luck.

Really America's Tires and Tirerack are the same now? I would buy from America's Tires vs. Costco as they better/quicker service on mounting and repairs.

I really doubt this is true. Unless anything changes in the last few days, Discount Tires has already acquired TireRack about a year and few months ago. They are even still working on merging their system and websites… They are formally the same company now though they still perform under 2 difference websites and names.

If you're looking for tires that are "approved" by Mercedes-Benz and available in your area, you'll want to consult with the Mercedes-Benz Tire Center. You'll see a listing of approved tires for your application, the cost for a pair or set, and local dealers who can do the work.
