Live Traffic Not Available From Anyone

My 2018 S560 was delivered new with 5 years of Live Traffic included. In year 4 the live traffic stopped working. I called MB Embrace and was told they no longer supported Live Traffic on this vehicle. Embrace said Live Traffic was now available through Sirus/XM. I called Sirus/XM and was told that the 2018 S560 radio "was incompatible with Sirius/XM traffic and that I should call MB to purchase live traffic. Circular Firing Squad tech solution!!!

Scrolling through the S560 command menus, I discovered the traffic originally was receiving live data from TomTom. Tried contacting TomTom and quickly discovered their website is 100% BOT tech support. I was unable to find any phone number for ANY department at TomTom where I could speak to a person. I did create a TomTom online account and the BOT responded someone in TomTom would review my tech support request and get back to me within 48 hours.

Is anyone with a 2018 S Class currently receiving Live Traffic? If yes, please share who is supplying you with traffic updates. Yes, I know I can use Android Auto but Android's main problem is the 2018 S Class did not come with a touch screen, and using the MB controls to navigate Android is problematic.

Apple CarPlay, is it an option for you?

Just reposting my response from your initial thread in the W221 forum in case somebody else finds this thread.

As you correctly found out, mBrace (correct spelling) discontinued live traffic, because TomTom cancelled its relationship with Mercedes and are no longer willing to support it. Starting with model year 2019, Mercedes moved to a new online platform called Mercedes me connect. New app, new everything. Also supports OTA updates, so maps are now regularly being updated. Initially, they were also using TomTom, but then when TomTom got discontinued they moved live traffic to their subsidiary HERE, which already supplied the maps and all the other technology for the navigation system.

Last I've heard, they are looking into migrating mBrace to HERE Traffic as well, but I think with the pandemic and all and these cars now being out of warranty, it's probably not gonna happen. The T&Cs protect them as they have the right to terminate any of the services at any time, especially if the required commercial technology is no longer available, in this case TomTom live traffic.

Your best option is Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. I don't have a touch screen, either in my 2019 C63S coupe, but I'm on the new Mercedes me connect and still have live traffic. Already renewed once, but occasionally I use CarPlay. No problem operating it with the jog wheel. I actually hate touchscreens in cars, because while driving it's like playing Whac-A-Mole trying to hit anything. A bit easier in an S Class as it is so disconnected from the road, but I drive an AMG. Pretty much impossible to use a touchscreen while driving with a sporty, firm suspension.
