W222 Post Conversion 2018+ COMPLETE

Well! - it is done! - W222 Post facelift conversion complete!

Wanted to share with you guys some stuff I learned along the journey along with some photos I took.

I do want to shout out @BenzNinja - during the this conversion I had some questions about the bodykit, taillights, headlights, ballasts etc and anyone whos spoken to him knows 1. How lucky we are to have him on this forum 2. How knowledgeable he is and respectful and 3. how committed he is to helping us all so Peter shout out to you man.

Got the kit on AliBaba - took 5 Weeks to deliver everything included except tail lights because I had gotten them on eBay prior. Everything was packaged perfectly, wrapped securely and every single piece of trim was provided. Quality is OEM like quality, my bodyshop i've been going to for years in NJ and if ever you need a body shop i'll forward they're info. I have done some crazy body work stuff over the years for all my cars and always perfect.

As for a few things I learned along the way.

OEM Post tail lights 2018+ DO NOT fit pre facelift. Different harness does not connect so you have to buy aftermarket tail lights I have someone on eBay who also I have emailed plenty of times on eBay who I purchased the tail lights from and gets back to me as fast as if I was texting a friend. Ill link the tail lights at the end quality is OEM like quality from the weight to the brightness of the LED lights to the reverse LEDs brightness etc.

OEM MB Headlights DO NOT FIT with the ballasts, I was stunned with that because the day before picking up the car my bodyshop called me and said we are stopped dead in the water and said the PRE face lift ballasts DO NOT fit the Post 2018+ OEM MB headlights and they cant finish the job because they cant put the bumper on but luckily I had the headlights I purchased along with the body kit on AliBaba so I had someone drop them off within minutes of finding that info out and luckily the PRE ballasts connect right into the aftermarket POST headlights I haven't seen them at night yet but brightness seems like there is no issue but ill have BenzNinja have a look at it.

360 Camera - The front facing camera has trouble opening the flap on POST 2018+ Grille - it opens and then closes i'll have that remedied with Peter.

Driver side mirrors blind spot isn't working it flashes but again I'll have Peter take a look.

Other then what's mentioned above that's the only issues I ran into and by sharing this thread and letting anyone interested in doing the conversion now you know.

As for pricing. - ALiBaba front & rear bumpers all the trim, exhaust tips, grille AND headlights $1700USD SHIPPED which included import duties, that pricing is UNBELIEVABLE when on eBay the body kit alone goes for $2,400 plus tax

Taillights were $438.00 shipped on eBay

Labor - This is my pricing for me because of the relationship I have with the body shop in NJ but I paid $1850 Cash

So ALL IN - not even $5,000 USD Most people would pay close to double that and I didnt even need the tail lights I could have kept my PRE.

As for the photos i'm no photographer and I have only had the vehicle for (1) day Ill take night photos when its dark.

Blind spot sensors/modules

@MayorMcCheese how did you go about the front blind spot sensors under the bumper as it seems like the 2018+ kit has only one spot not 2 and in a different location. I got everything done except I'm fighting this issue

¿Do you know by the way if I can upgrade the front bumper and grille to 2018+ but still use my original 2016 headlights? ¿Are they physically identical to the facelifted version? I like more the 2014-2016 style headlights, I just want to upgrade the bumpers.

I'm not a judge, no fan of AMG stuff, and have no interest such things, but it all looks good to me. Congratulations!

What is the color?

I just completed the conversion on my car. From what I was told by the seller, yes you can use your original headlights you just need to trim about an inch from the bumper right underneath the headlights.

I have my Stock taillights on my car still and they work with the new bumper.

Just wanted to say thank you Mayor, you saved me a ton of money by giving up the Alibaba route for the conversion kit.
I seen your post back in March of this year and didn’t know anything about alibaba, but I did some digging and went the exact same route. I was literally in the process of buying off eBay for more than double what I paid through Alibaba. I got my kit for $1550 complete with shipping. The shipping took around eight weeks because it somehow got lost for two weeks once it made it to the Los Angeles port. Here’s a couple pics of my car.

Loks Great! Love that very special color.

I noticed the AMG exhaust tips on your S550. Did you replace the entire exhaust system with the AMG exhaust or just the exhaust tips?

when i bought the body kit it came with the exhaust tips which prior to doing this i researched all over trying to put real AMG exhaust tips on the S550 and it cant be done I think our exhaust tips are off the GLA35 I think. but I could not rig the S63 exhaust tips on the S550. the OEM exhaust fits behind the exhaust tips but I straight piped my S class giving it a true AMG sound

I bet that sounds as good as it looks!

The new front end looks good but are you concerned about the outer lower openings in the grill have no protection from road debris/rocks damaging the auxiliary cooling coils. My lower grill has a cross pattern screen that would hopefully provide some protection. Perhaps you could add those inserts???

I have an authentic 2019 S63 and unfortunately the unprotected coolers in the front are a concern for me as well. I am not sure what to do about this.

It appears MB decided to provide some form of protection but only on a few S Class models from 2019. Below are a few pics from the 2019 S Class brochure.

Beautiful conversion…the body color is amazing.
you mentioned that the new grill had a problem with the 360 camera door.
Did your mechanic figure out what the issue was?
I just got an after market facelift grill off of Amazon and would like to know what to look for while installing it.
Thanks!
