Insurance Companies
Recently I was on vacation. One night while coming back to the car from the beach I saw a note on the windshield.
I knew it.
I looked around and saw the front trim, front bumper were messed up, but the headlight.
minor scratches to the headlight.
all on drivers side.
I put in a claim via his insurance.
took it to a highly rated Benz body shop.
they came back saying the headlight has to be replaced and they will get me an LKQ part from a crashed 560.
They said that’s all the insurance company would approve.
The car is a 2019, so OEM replacement does not apply after 2 years.
Hells no I say.
I said hells no ,any times to the claim adjuster, his boss, his bosses boss, etc
I explain how I don’t know how that light was maintained and the moisture issue with these lights, and I’m going to sue the insured, etc…
After making a big deal they sprung and got me a brand new one from the dealer of my choice.
point is, if they try to offer you LKQ parts and the accident is not your fault, push back on the insurance company, many times via multiple channels.
this is a PSA. Chubb, Cincinnati, Pure, Berkeley are the only insurance companies that won’t give you an LKQ part.
Always get replacement cost insurance.
