Remember... You Have REST!

Since the weather is cold again... REMEMBER that your vehicle has a wonderfully engineered feature called REST! It makes running errands in winter almost enjoyable Just turn it on before going into Home Depot, and the car is still warm when you come back!

A few things that I've learned from previous Mercedes with REST (not mentioned in the manual):

1- You can reactivate REST, after it switches itself off, by pressing the button again. It will run for another timed cycle. Useful when you're waiting for your wife to reemerge from Target, and she's taking longer than she promised...
2- REST will automatically switch off if coolant temperature drops below a certain threshold (i.e. no more heat available).
3- While REST is most useful for heating in cold weather, it is also usable in warm weather, in which case it draws in exterior air and ventilates the cabin. It won't cool, since the A/C is not running, but better than nothing.

Enjoy the warmth!

Good reminder

I use it all year round for about 25 years (w220? I think) . Wish it stayed on longer

It will shut off to preserve starting power

I told my wife about this recently, I reminded her that it kept the car warm on our first date many moons ago…..
she nodded….

Thanks, never tried it but remember hearing of it back when I had my first MBZ. Here in Texas we get a few cold days but the seat & armrest heaters come on so fast we barely need the heated air coming from the dash vents!

exactly right ,.. I tend to use it in the summer in Houston... it just ventilates the car and keeps it closer to ambient when out of the car for short stints.... when I'm in "inland" Los Angeles area it gets cold and snow near Big Bear... so in that car in winter, I use it also...
