I have searched. Do wireless CarPlay adapters still suck *****? Are there no good ones if you have wired CarPlay?

I’ve tried several, I have never found one that worked well enough with this car to keep it. They glitch or hitch when displaying the map and using audio, etc.

If anybody else has ever found one I am all ears.

The wireless CarPlay feature works great. I recommend the remote since we don't have touch screens.
Plugs into your usb port in the console storage bin.
Only drawback is the cellular connection to your cell phone in certain areas when streaming videos. Works well when connected to a home wireless network.

Would this work in a pre-Facelift car? I can see how the phone and box could send a screen image to the car's LCD display, but how would the phone and box understand and respond to user inputs?

If your car does not come with CarPlay then this device will not work for you. This device only makes the app wireless. It also displays your phone apps on the screen plus much more. It's an Android IOS so using your Google account during setup adds features.

It's been 7-8 years already (maybe longer), and not a single vendor was able to come up with a flawless retrofitted/after-market CarPlay unit what works wirelessly. Man, even majority of manufacturers who offer cars with wireless CarPlay have issues so am not surprized that all after-market solutions also suck. I tried a few in the past when I had a pre-facelift W222.... the only reliable ones were the wired ones, but non of the wireless ones worked well. BMW is the only brand I've had where CarPlay works well in wireless mode, but still even then I always get issues either in ID7 or ID8 when both me and my wife are in the car (the car always gets confused despite having the priorirties for connectivity ranked in settings). CarPlay connectivity sucks in all cars, and am curious to see how would CraPlay Next-Gen in 2025 on some cars would work when the entire car is fully integrated. I hope it works independently from the phone via it's own brain, and just use WIFI data to sync messages/data/etc and other stuff from your phone.

I have a OTTOCAST adapter plugged into my 2020 S560 and it has worked flawlessly. I felt like the set-up instructions weren't great but I messed with it until it starting working.

I have no affiliation with them:

Does the map move as smoothly as when it’s plugged in? That’s what bugs me

I use Waze pretty much exclusively - have not noticed any difference. Honestly, I'm spending more time obsessing about my rough 3-2 downshifts and annoying sound coming from my driver's door that no amount of dry lubricant can rid me of! I can't obsess about map stuff too

Does that unit provide a smoother CarPlay map experience than your units that only do wireless CarPlay?

I'll give you some data, maybe you can get some answers:
About wireless adapters:
When there is no wireless adapter, your wired carplay will also experience disconnection and lag, and the cable connectin is very annoying.
When you bought carlinkit3.0 with $139 in 2019, you complained that it's so expensive, but you are freed from the wires. Even though it would still occasionally get stuck and disconnected, but that's acceptable.
Then you got the 4.0 in 2020 with only $99, but you thought it is not as smooth as 3.0. Even though it says it's faster and more powerful.
Now 5.0 is not that expensive, you can even buy it for $58 using their coupon code, check the link here: https://carlinkitbox.com/products/ca...koda-kia-haval
but you now love the wired connection more.

About Carplay ai box: You had to spend $339 to buy an android 9.0 Carinkit T-box in 2019.
Now you can buy the latest version of Android 13 for only $145: https://carlinkitbox.com/products/ca...-wired-carplay, the price is almost the same with the carlinkit3.0 in 2019... Then you miss your android 9.0 T-box so much.

As you might expect, I am also promoting my own products: please spend half more of the price to buy a Carplay AI BOX that makes you feel different from the previous ones. We guarantee you will love it! If you are not satisfied with it: FREE RETURNS Guaranteed within 30 Days, whether you use the product or not.

To be clear, I never said any of these things and never have tried any of these products, I'm not sure if this is a langauge thing or not, but I just want to make that clear.

On the wired connection there is no map lag, the map operates smoothly...

Thats my question, will this kind of box and the additional computing power make the interface as smooth as the wired connection?
