I have the M275 V12 in my Sl and boy is it buttery smooth. Probably more reliable than my M278 too . If I replaced my S550 with an S600/S65, I'd be needing coil packs annually though lol.

Thats my thing, I daily drive my S Class and I drive 15k miles a year, the V12 just isn't economical for that use IMO, too costly for fuel and maintenance. For a fun weekend car sure give me the 12.

I hit 97,000 miles today and took the car (2015 S550) in for it's B2 service. $2,500 for that (less 20% disc) so $2000. They called me end of day to let me know it needs F & R. pads and rotors ($1350 and $1585) respectively. Also need 2 front tires plus alignment ($1100 +$260). So, all together, assuming 20% discount on all but tires, we're talking $4556 plus tires of $1100 = $5656. Am I nuts (yes) for going to the dealer? It's easy and I get a loaner. Go ahead, I can take my lumps...thoughts?

I just priced out a pair of rear tires for my ‘15 S-65. 285/35-20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. $750.00 all up out the door mounted and balanced. Check with Discount Tire. No need to be abused by MB. $$$ for the service is horrendous as well. Of course I do all my own servicing except for tires.

I did front and rear brake pads using powerstop ceramic pads and powerstop rotors for 1000 dollars in parts from rock auto and had them installed at a local independent shop for 300 dollars. No more brake dust on the rims either.

You'll save a ton, and they are MB techs and use all MB OEM parts unless there is a better part. They did my brakes pads and rotors F&R for $2,000, MB OEM rotors (which are $1,000 themselves) and ceramic pads. On top of that they are huge MB Nerds, we spent 30 minutes under my car on the lift just talking about the car and you can tell how much they love them and what they do, plus they have loaners.

I'll never set foot in the dealer again.

B Service for my car was $1300 at dealer or $725 at indy that works on lots of MB, I will never got back to the dealer

I have a 2014 W222 that I picked up at the factory ten years ago next week. I’ve worked from home for the past 17 years so I don’t drive much. The mileage is at 61500. So this is 10 years and I’m certain I will keep it as long as it keeps going. I had a bunch of stuff go at the same time this past week so the $7500 bill for maintenance was certainly the most I ever paid for service but it’s cheaper than a new one.

There is also a nostalgia element for me as I have lots of great memories especially of the Euro Delivery trip.

But…even if I wanted a new one, there is no replacement car to buy. I had an S500 2023 loaner this week and I share many of the opinions I have seen here about the W223. Inside is quite frankly, hideous. The tablet is cringe worthy. The car drove well but it’s just not the statue/style of the W222. Ironically every person at the dealer shared the same sentiment. You can’t beat the interior of mine. So at this point, I suspect I’ll own it until we can’t get parts for it ( so they’ll probably drive my wife in it at my funeral)

I’m up to a whopping 6,900 miles. With The RENNTech tune, ILS+, tinting, and wrap up front I have many cross country trips ahead of us.

MB extended warranty is good for another 9 months then I’ll roll the dice on a rather safe bet and self insure it for repairs. Service B was $850 at the dealer 10 min away. Solid independent shop is 30 min away. Not worth it for travel time back and forth, drop off and pick up, but they’re good guys. I could use them again in the future.

Just working all the time so can’t seem to get behind the wheel as much as I want except when going CC.

Even if I wanted to replace it there’s not much out there interesting that fits what we need. Wife really dislikes the W223 and I agree.

Yes. No doubt it’s higher than an independent shop but the “free” loaner is convenient. I’ve always had the dealer service it. If I need another strut replacement, I’d probably go independent. I’m in the Tampa Bay area but not had great experiences with the few independent shops in the area I’ve tried on my wife’s E350. But that was a few years ago.

I should add that the strut price when I checked online was $1600 just for the part. The dealer marked it up to $1900. Any shop will mark the parts up but that adds up when you throw in the 5 hours of labor.

You probably paid twice what you had to pay. Thats crazy...the independent shop I use has loaners too...or I just rent one from Enterprise. $1,600 for the strut, $550 for the tires, Battery $450, alignment is $200, air filters are $100...$100 in oil...thats $4,000+ in labor. Sheesh.

Not sure what exact model you have. For a 2020 S560 RockAuto has front struts from Arnott, what most independent shops use at under $500. I ordered a couple to replace on a previous S on my own but it was just the air compressor, easy DIY fix. And it’s definitely not 5 hours of labor - any reputable independent shop it’s 1-2 hours from past experience.

Anyway, glad you got it fixed, markup is crazy anywhere unless DIY.

This is me too, I always have a daily and another, and swap one a year. My S450 is my daily, 20-25,000 miles/year, and I just traded my 2019 (which I was going to keep to 100k), for a CPO 2020, with 9,000 miles. The package was too good to turn down, and I got another new car. My ‘19 was at 70,000 miles, and was starting to feel it, especially compared to my new low mileage ‘20.

Just got my 2014 S63 last year . I intend to keep it a long time as it's summer ride for me. At 3k per year it should last until I am done driving or there are no more parts for it.

2018 S450 4Matic bought CPO in 2019.
it's 78K miles. So far two sets of tires and brakes and rotors, running perfectly. The Driver Assistant function is much better than that in W223 or EQS'.
I plan to keep it for a long time.

Just picked up a 2014 with 50k on it to replace a 2011 CTS-V that had 750whp. Loving the S550 and plan to keep it 3 years.

My son bought my '12 S450 with 25,000 miles in June of '18 when I replaced it with my '18 S560. He needed more space when his family grew to 3 kids. He now has 72,000 miles on it; I have yet to hit 32,000 0n the '18. We're very happy and planning to keep both cars rolling.along. Being in my early 90s, it's entirely possible my son may get my car before too long. Unless my wife refuses to give it up.
